Snail Mail Writing List

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

I actually joined this forum with the hopes of find pen pals. After all, what better way to justify purchasing more ink, pens, and paper?

I am in my late twenties. I'm a Sherlockian, a vegetarian (mostly, recently reconverted), a liberal, and an editor for a small publishing company in Oklahoma. I love traveling and learning more about the world, so I'd be especially interested in hearing from people abroad; however, I am sadly limited to English.

Things I'm likely to ramble on about: whatever book(s) I'm currently reading outside of work, a recipe I've recently tried, a single malt scotch I'm enjoying, theological questions, my latest travel plans/dreams, my adventures in dabbling with such things as ballroom dance and fencing, my attempts to learn to play the violin and chess, and my obsession with hopes of moving to the East Coast.

If any of that sounds vaguely interesting, PM me for my address. I look forward to writing and receiving letters.

I'll play!

I haven't had a pen pal since the days of elementary school enforced writing assignments and while I love the digital age I find something so enjoyable about taking pen to paper and writing a real letter.

I'm 21 and about to graduate with my BFA in Animation and Cinema Studies, so obviously you'll probably hear a lot about movies. I love corny sci fi and horror movies, but I also have a giant collection of film in any genre, on dvd and 16mm film reels. I have weird collections.

I also have a gigantic weak spot for animals. I work for a rabbit rescue group and have way too many animals as I find it impossible to say no to a homeless animal, this also means you'll probably hear about the hilarious and wacky antics of my silly animals.

I love travel, other cultures an religions. I find them fascinating, be it from an iconographical standpoint or even just anthropological, I love to learn more. I'm trying to learn japanese, sadly slow going due to an inability to use it with anyone (anyone wanna learn japanese together?) but i'm determined to learn before I go back. I loved the country and hopefully will find a way to get back within the next year or two.

If you're interested in nerdy things, movies, languages, or just want to chat, drop me a pm and we'll get writing!

I'm interested in joining! I'm a 31 year-old college professor who just moved to the States (Florida) after living and doing research in Europe. I'm new to the full-time working world, and it has its challenges. I have an unhealthy obsession with travel (Europhile) and inks. I pretend to be a photographer when I'm not being an academic. I speak Spanish and am teaching myself French lazily. :)

Hi there :)

I'm Gwynne, 31 years old, fairly new to this forum but by no means an internet newbie. I've had calligraphy pens for years, however only recently started collecting fountain pens. I like flex and italic nibs, so that's the most populous of my collection so far. Most expensive is a Lamy Al-Star...for NOW! I prefer purples and blues, so don't be surprised if nearly everything I write is one of those colors. I'm fairly geeky...

I've got a 6 year old, a 20 month old and about nearly done with #3, a boy this time. I'm not going to have much else to do with my time coming up and for the foreseeable future, so I figured I'd come on here and find some folks to correspond with while I'm sitting around. I'm a trained EMT, although currently not working for obvious reasons. I lived in England for 6 years with my ex-husband, and tho I don't speak anything fluently am a bit of a language geek. I am a big sci-fi/fantasy fan, love anything to do with dragons, and am just about one of the most open-minded individuals you're likely to run across. I plan eventually to go back to school for a nursing degree, tho pharmacology and genetics are interests, too. I've been married to a mechanical geek for 3 1/2 years now. We're both motorcyclists, hikers, love the outdoors in general and he's an old-soul with hobbies - tho not fountain pens! We don't own or watch tv, but are both computer nerds. Eventually we'd like to have a house out in the country with goats and chickens and just be old hippies together.

I can't guarantee a steady schedule for letters, generally as time and my brats allow I'll write regularly. Sometimes I'm artsy and might include some sort of drawing. Like I've seen a few other people on here post - I'm not religious and I'd appreciate you not converting me. If you're easily offended by liberal folk, I'm probably not your gal, either.

Hey everyone, whew! What a way to start. It's been just a month since I ordered my first pen from the Goulets, now with the help of $3.33 mystery pen I now own 5 fountain pens, and an array of inks I am enjoying it even more each day. I've been itching to write a letter ever since recieving my 4 mystery pens and I am glad that their is a forum like this filled with others itching to do just the same thing.

So a little bit about me. I'm Brian, not to be confused with my username as Jesse which is simply my 'Air Force' name. My first day on the job my last name is very similar to that of the Zombieland/Social Network actor and was guessed Jesse. It took my coworkers upwards of 2 motnhs to find out that it wasn't infact my name and have since stuck. I'm 22 and I've been in the United States Air Force for a year and a half. Spent four semesters at a community college posting abysmal grades so I decided to enlist, which was a great decision as it got me to realize that sitting behind a desk for hours isn't what I plan to do. Two years ago I wanted to retire but have since decided that it may be worthwhile to get out and do something that I will enjoy. Recently being a teacher has struck an interest, and I believe I decided on being a high school teacher, but I wil lsee where the next 4 years in the military takes me.

Now for some little tidbits. I'm in North Carolina, I spent my whole life in the same house in Florida and it was time for a change. Before I joined I learned how to make balloon animals, which is an awesome skill to have, and arguing with kids can be a blast. I an Apple nerd, the scents and options of wetshaving intrigue. I think I wrote enough though there is probably much more to add, I look forward to hearing from somebody.

-Brian

I have many varied interests, including cycling, music, constantly reading (or listening to audio books), birding and field naturalist,

So let me know if you're interested, and give me your address or I'll give you mine.

Have time for another penpal or two. My "About Me" page is a fairly good indicator of what my correspondence will be like although I do try to inject some humor.

.Well a third penpal would be good, things always happen in threes don't they?

So a bit about me, well I'm David, I'm 36 a Dad to twin boys who are my absolute life.

I have worked self employed as a Decorator for the last 12 years. I've mainly been associated with the building trade in one form or another all of my working life since the age of 14 but I have done other things. I'm currently looking to change my career because the recession has bitten a little too deeply this time and my market has irrevocably changed in the UK.

I used to be a very avid letter writer when I was at school about ten letters every weekend.

My other hobbies or interests are Blues Music, Classical, Jazz & Rock and I'd love to find time to take up the Harmonica again. Cycling,

Reading: various genres & authors but mainly Clive Cussler, Conan Doyle, Whodunnits, true crime,

cooking, real ales in traditional pubs, wine,

history, scif-fi,

nature birds & the environment, deep sea fishing, museums & galleries .

You name it I've probably had an interest in it at some point or another.

Pens seem to be a pretty constant theme though. I'm also partial to a bit of Dickens.

Well if thers's anything more you want to know then please Pm me and we can start exchanging letters.

My pens and I are already looking forward to it.

HI everyone!

My name is Maritza (it rhymes with pizza) and I LOVE receiving and writing letters. I'm very open to who ever wishes to write to me. I'm in my third year of college and working on my BS for Psychology in order to do research. No, I don't do counseling but I hope to do forensic work in a couple of years as a supplement to Research.

I got some wonderful envelopes from Japan that I want to try out and I would like to find a use for the unopened packs of lovely paper I have sitting in my desk drawer collecting dust. I write as often as I can and send letters out to my friends and family in place of e-mail as much as I can. If you're interested in writing letters, please let me know! I hope to hear back from people who want to write and communicate in more personalized fashions AKA letter writing. I don't think its old-fashion but personalized. Before the telephone how else did we all communicate? :D

This is just to throw my hat into the ring again. It works best when you have a firm place that you'll be staying at for a long while.

This was my previous bio. Just correcting a few things and adding new info. I got my B.S in Psychology and am working as a Study Coordinator for Cancer research. I'm not gonna complain about that. I'm now 23 years old and spend plenty of time working but still find time for fountain pens and writing. Still love to write to penpals and looking to find more people to write to. To old and new penpals, I'm open for letters! I don't mind reading you rant about your day or pondering over what the meaning of life is, I appreciate knowing you took time to write to me. :)

I wouldn't mind having another penpal or two. My name is Cody, I'm almost twenty and currently on sabbatical from school until August. My interests include music, theology (where da Lutherans at?,) history, basically you name it, I'm interested in it. I'd especially like to have an overseas penpal, but I'd be just as happy to write someone the next town over.

Awesome, well dernnit.

I wrote a whole fantastic paragraph about me and I deleted it with my magic.

To resummarize me: 20 years of age, fledgling medievalists focussing on Viking-Christian relations. Arjen Lucassen is the Mozart of the modern age. Used to swim at a national level, quit, now I climb, Slackline and ski. I would love to talk about anything, especially books, history and history. I can talk about anything or debate anything if that also floats your boat. Hope to write to a few of you soon.

Hi, my name is Bruce. I'm a 50 something male in deepest, darkest suburban Houston.

I love snail mail and my father and I have been working hard to keep the USPS afloat, but things are looking grim, so I am up for more correspondents. I really enjoy fountain pens, but usually only keep 4 or 5 that I like to use, at any one time. I find if I keep more than that it gives me a case of the guilts because I don't use them enough. Currrently, I mostly use a Visconti Homo Sapiens, a Pelikan 800, and a Bexley Corona. I firmly believe that my vocabulary is about 20% larger when I write with pen on paper than when I use computer.

I'm a lawyer/biologist in private environmental practice and try to confine my work to land preservation, species protection and river/wetland protection. This both keeps me busy and assures that I will never either retire or be burdened with excessive wealth.

I am constantly in the outdoors birding, photographing things, backpacking, kayaking, and biologizing. I recently discovered ultra-marathon kayak racing and have done about a half dozen races of between 60 and 340 miles. I also love history, music, animals, and cooking. Actually, the biggest challenge I have is to find something I'm not interested in.

I love writing letters - and receiving them! The latter is a rare occurrence, unfortunately - everyone replies to me via email. A penpal - or two - therefore, I think, would be perfect!

I'm in my mid-twenties; dropped out of further education to look after one of my parents. As I've already said, I love letters! My tastes and interests are very eclectic - always changing - but, I guess, my three main passions are history, videogames and books. I love learning about art, other cultures and science, too.

What would I be looking for in a penpal? Someone around my age; someone abroad, I think. Someone just as eccentric! :P

Someone from the States - or Canada - would be great: we already share much in terms of culture, but there are 'odd' differences in our ways of life that I would love to explore and share. - Someone from the EU would be perfect too! (For the same kinda reasons.)

PM me if you're interested. :)

Hello! Call me Tsades, and I am a college student in California studying CS. My main interests are travel, arts, technology, and technology :puddle: , but I enjoy learning and talking about anything (surprise me).

As a CS major, I typically don't write; amazingly, the first time I penned a letter in my life was two months ago. That was also how I discovered how horrendous my handwriting had become. Thus, I'm looking for a penpal or two, so I can work on my handwriting and also learn things about other places and cultures.

Who am I looking for? Pretty much anyone--male, female, young, not-so-young  . I'd especially love to communicate with someone outside the US, because I think culture differences are fantastic conversation fodder. I'd also prefer someone with a healthy FPN presence/history, as I'm new to pen pals and would feel more comfortable with someone who's a regular contributor to FPN.

Send me a message if you're interested, and let's get going!
