Snail Mail Writing List

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

I'd love to write to people, too. I used to do it all the time, and lately I've realized I really miss it! As much as I appreciate e-mail, nothing beats getting a real letter in the mailbox. :)

I'm 34 (until next month), and single. I have too many interests, etc. to list them all here, but a few are books, music, movies, postcards. Of course there's more, but I'm trying to keep this short. :)

If anyone's interested, PM me - thanks!

Hello.

I would really like to join the snail mail writing list, as I am curious about letter writing. I'd really like to write to people around the world.

I'm 17 (until December), a second year college student, and have to warn you that I may not have the best penmanship.

Sam

Hi again,

I've posted a couple of times in the past and have had splendid success in finding correspondents. (My bio is on my profile. ) This time I am specifically looking for people who have UV lights. I've been playing with Blue Ghost and Whiteness of the Whale and would like to incorporate them more into my correspondence, :ninja: but I don't know who else can read letters written thus. (Any of my current correspondents with UV reading capabilities can just let me know in the next letter.)

Regular-spectrum correspondents also welcome. :D

Hello Pensters!

Count me in.

I'm located in sunny tropical Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, which is sandwiched between Thailand and Singapore! :-)

I'm relatively new to fountain-pens and have suddenly been afflicted with a desire to improve upon my handwriting, so what is the next step...

PM me for snail mail address..

I was very active in the pen community for several years, and then dropped out for a couple of years for health reasons. I would love to reconnect with some of my old pen friends, and make some new ones!!

I have a MLA in Humanities, with a dual focus on the Italian Renaissance, as well as Latin American history. I am now a college professor and love it! I am engaged to a fellow pen collector, and I collect Esterbrooks (my primary focus), and also Sheaffer Skripserts, Pelikans, and Conway Stewarts (vintage).

I have a love of all things paper lol, and am looking forward to using my FPs on more than grocery lists & student papers....

I have 2 teens (14 going on 25, and 15 1/2), who just started back at school on Tuesday - hooray!!

thanks!

Lisa

Hey all,

I have previously thrown my hat into the ring, as it were, but I thought that I would do so again since I have moved halfway across the world (literally). Right now, I am in yeshiva (Jewish seminary) in Jerusalem, Israel. I'm looking for someone local to start a correspondence with. It would be nice to do that so I can practice my Hebrew, and also of course to meet new people! If you are in Israel and are looking for a new pen pal, take a look at my about me section. If you are interested, PM me! Have a wonderful day.

Throw my name in the hat :)

Im new to the website, and new to writing with fine instruments as well. I would like somebody to practice writing to with my pens. so far I have a Lamy Safari with a LH nib (since im left handed) and I have all copperplate nibs and ink, so ill write with those, but id like to receive mail from others, Ill respond as quickly as possible :)

as far as the whole "about me" thing... heres my little slice of the pie:

currently I live in england, Active Duty U.S. Air Force. Im originally from california, love home, miss it there. as far as my interests, I am into a lot of things, survival, fitness, science fiction, extreme sports, climbing, scuba diving, I ride a motorcycle (crotch rocket type), Im an adrenaline junkie in hiding. I like a lot of eastern philosophy and philosophy in general. Im open to discussions about religion but I have no stance on it. I have an eye for elegant and expensive things in life, I want to live the luxury lifestyle. if I had to say what my career goals are, I want to be an inventor. all around inventor, nothing specific yet. and for those of you who are not shy, I am BDSM friendly :bunny01:

well thats all I can think of for the time being, PM me if you want to write me, im not shy (if you couldnt tell ;) ) and I would like a penpal :D

Count me in please.

Being in my 50's it has been decades since I have exchanged letters. Funny, but I really used to enjoy it but for some reason (long before the email age) I stopped. I suppose work and family consumed most of my free time. I just hope that I can be of interest to someone. I have a boring job - manage a credit union, but I enjoy my hobbies of retriever training, hunting and fishing and of course pen collecting and handwriting practice.

Count me in as well [:

I'd love to get some letters from FPNers.

If you do correspond, I'd like the following information in your letter just for kicks:

Would you rather have a hamster-sized elephant or an elephant sized hamster?

Do you have any quirky talents/personal oddities?

Would you rather lose both your arms or both of your legs?

If you could have been born in any other country, which would that be?

I'm glad to learn that I'm not the only one who appreciates rushing into the mailbox to search for a personal mail instead of mere advertising junk.

I'm 17 (turning 18 in November) and I'm a senior high school student who's hectic from preparing for SAT exams and also college applications. I'm applying to the Unites States Naval Academy (first choice) and hopefully becoming a Navy SEAL in the future. I wouldn't know how I'd be able to keep going to this fine site and posting, but I'm sure something can be done to continue coming here and learning more about the art of writing.

So far, I only have one fountain pen, and like the norm, it's a Lamy Safari (go figure). Taking effectiveness over beauty (and afraid of people stealing my pens) I tend to prefer the modern fine feel of fountain pen over vintage pen. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate its beauty, just that I prefer industrial looking fountani pen (like Lamy and the Lamy 2000). So far, it's done great things to my life, adding color and life to my routine, and I've gained insight from creative writing. I hope to keep up with the learning and hopefully be a fine pen collector sometime.

Also, I'd appreciate any mail, thanks!

Again in the fray, although my two previous experiences have been rather dissapointing (a no show, and a one show)

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

Throwing my hat in again since things have sort of ease up on my side and found myself with a lot of paper.

Here's my profile for anyone who is interested.

A young one who came to fountain pens late in her life. Age 27 working as an art curator in a University Museum and currently a student (MA in Southeast Asian Studies) with a tendency to drive herself up the wall on the side. Extremely busy but loves the pause in pace every time it takes to personally handwrite something. Loves photography, travelling, books, journals, single malt scotch and indie music.

I'm still up for more people, so far I correspond with dashreeve only.

So let me quote my old post, with a few minor changes.

Hello people,

Let me introduce myself:

As stated my name is Detlev, currently I'n living in the UK - not British though.

I'm heading towards 20 years of age (end of October) - at the moment I am still 19 and a now year 2 maths student (but the year hasn't started yet).

Interests are pens - more reading though - finance is an issue in a way - still I have 2 Montblancs and one Eversharp with a flexi nib :)

Also computers in a way of helping - I do post a bit on NBR (Notebookreview) - my lat laptop stayed with me for 3 years, my current Vaio should last at least that long or even much longer :)

(PS: I don't game - so that is effectively a no go for me as I have no idea what's available).

A hobby that started in 2008 is photography.

(if you type DetlevCM into Google - take any NBR link, the links are in my sig - I have't put them in my signature yet).

Main interest in photography is architecture, and landscapes.

A lot of my images are up on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/detlevcm (hope I typed that right)

I think that's really it...

I can also claim to know a wide array of random facts... read a lot about WWII a one time....

Oh, and I have no real social life :D

So, if you want to drop me a PM :)

Detlev

Hi there,

My name is Nirthikaa and I would like to be added to this list of snail mail writing. I am 17 years old and living in Toronto, Canada. I spend much of my time debating random facts that occur in the world and trying to knit or crochet or sew. I've only recently begun my interest in fountain pens (with the addition of a Pilot Cavalier) and hope to see my collection slowly grow. If you don't mind exchanging letters with me please do not hesitate to pm me.

Hello. My name is Sue! How do you do?

Actually my name is Will Thorpe and I'm adding my name again since it's been awhile. You write me and I'll write back or I'll write first. Send me a PM. I'm retired, live in Texas, own a few horses, collect a few fountain pens, been using fountain pens most of my life. I was in the Army, later worked for a defense contractor (fighter jets, that makes sense since I was in the Army!). I've been in a few foreign countries, saw Vietnam up close, love Paris (that's Paris, France, not Paris, Texas or Paris, Kentucky). Actually I'm from Kentucky, as far from Hazard, Kentucky as I can get. LOL! Finished high school in Berea, Kentucky then hitched a ride 14 miles North to Richmond (Eastern Kentucky University)where I majored in ROTC, the pool hall, and a Hot Rod Lincoln (I wish, it was really a 55 Chevy 6 cyl.). You can pick the topic or we can just have back porch chats, I know a lot about a few things and a few things about a lot, and admit to being a Rock and Roller (Don't Mess With my Ducktail). Been Snailing (Snails are letters, snails are those things they eat in Paris, France that is) for about eight years, mostly with Pentracers and a few good friends from this board. Don't be shy, operators standing by, do the PM or if you are shy email me at yellowchaps@yahoo.com.

Remember, no matter what they tell you, Rock and Roll is here to stay.

Happy Snailing,

Will
