I love receiving real mail, and I would love to see some other examples of FP handwriting other than my own :/

I miss having a penpal back from elementary school, and it would be fun to try it again. I like hearing from people in far-away places, and I would love writing back to you.

My name is Jesse, I'm 22, gay, married, student, IT analyst, eBayer, etc. I basically do everything I work with technology every day at work, and I'm studying Technology Management at Eastern Michigan University. I love coming home and reading a book, or handwriting in a journal, or now hopefully writing to a penpal. It's nice to get away from technology after being around it from 8am-9pm on a school night

I've received three letters today, and I'm smitten.

 

'Smitten' might be a strange word to use, but when you're alone and get bills and junk mail it is a wonderful thing to get a real letter! Even a celebratory card - as opposed to a "friendly reminder for an appointment" card. I'm going to write back, and probably invest more money in stamps!

I've had some success with the postcard swap, and have received and sent 4 postcards within the last couple of weeks!

 

It's been a while since I've received snail mail that didn't consist of family Christmas newsletters or bills. When I received the postcards I got a chance to see how well other pens write, and the lovely colored inks... Postcards don't really give one enough space to express oneself, so letter-writing should cover that! (Also a good reason to use everything in the cabinet...)

 

Letter-writing is one of the elements in a "Slow Down" culture that I love.

I just received my first hand-written letter in a while and I'd love to receive more!

 

I love using older pens and inks. I mostly collect and use Esterbrook pens, but I also tend to keep anything with some flex to it. I'd mainly like to start writing letters in an attempt to practice and improve my handwriting. I find that I don't write enough in my journal, but I think I'd write more regularly if there's someone on the other side looking for a letter. PM if you'd like to write to me and I'll be searching for some people to write to.

I'm new to FPN but count me in.

 

Brief bio:

I live in London Ontario Canada. I'm 43 y/o and married. I work for the Canadian Federal Government. I have an Italian Greyhound and a retired racing Greyhound. I have enjoyed fencing (epee) but not recently due to schedules, organic gardening, cooking/baking (especially French foods). I like opera and classical music and studied music performance at university. I have recently started to collect antique and vintage fountain pens (Waterman's only right now). I very much enjoy writing snail mail and would be willing to exchange letters. I also can see myself collecting vintage and antique inkwells at some point. I have only a few now.

 

I'm not only interested in writing about fountain pens and related things but am interested in establishing somewhat or a pen pal type relationship with a few folks who share similar interests.

I'm also new to FPN but I'd be really happy if I can take part to a letter exchange.

As I said in my "welcome" message, one of the reasons why I decided to bring my old pens back to life is becouse I need to have my time back. Time for doing what I like in the way I like. Not only becouse I have to.

 

I love motorbikes, music (particularly opera), skying and, more generally, every activity that makes brain and hands to cooperate...

 

My english is not perfect but I'll do my best to improve it!

I love letters. Not new to FPs, but new to italic nibs which have become a favorite.

 

Raised in Oregon, now living near Washington DC.

Law degree and employed by US Govt.

Recently returned to the US after 3 years in northern Japan.

Married with 5 kids (which keeps me busy enough)!
