Snail Mail Writing List

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

Well, never thought I'd be posting to this thread!

I would like to write a little besides my poetry and fiction and my pen pals of old are...old. Ha. They either don't have time or the physical capability to write anymore so I'd like to connect with a couple of folks who might be willing to tolerate my blathering.

My interests are the obvious (pens, ink, writing)

Animals of all sorts including the creepy crawly kinds and dogs, of course.

Music, mostly rock, "Americana", alternative, but I just love music and listen to some classical, some country, and some non-European and SA artists.

I am "of a certain age" but actually, don't mind saying I'm 56. In the process of a divorce. Have one adult child and two grands.

I cuss. A lot. But I can be convinced to keep it to a minimum in letters. :P

I will not rant about my soon-to-be-ex. ;)

Hello all! I am an I.T. project manager by trade, married to my best friend (really, she's pretty awesome), and have two great kids. I have a fair collection of fountain pens and inks. It's hard to claim a particular pen as a favorite, but my Pilot Vanishing Point, Lamy 2000, Edison Collier, and Parker "51" are usually in my bag.

Although I have traveled to many places, I actually despise traveling as I am very much a homebody. That said, I did not want to leave Scotland once I had arrived.

I am a former stand-up comic, I write fiction, play guitar and bass, have a love for photography. I'm old enough to remember watching Evel Knievel jump fourteen Greyhound buses and the Fonz jump a shark. I am both a cat and a dog person (lean catways, though). Music is very important to me, from classical, a little bit of country, rock, metal, electronic, etc.

PM me if you're interested in corresponding.

Hi all,

Looking for a pen pal or several. I am nervous as I posted here ages ago and then didn't respond to my responses (no real reason other than a high pressure day job kept me too busy to even log on here for about six months) and feel really crummy about that. Let's make a new start and I will actually respond to messages about this!

Me: Watercolor painter by night, 3D model designer by day. 30, in a long term relationship with the most genuine person I've ever met, no kids yet, just looking for fountain pen friends. I love cats and dogs equally, and my only existential crisis in recent years is "but really, do I love dogs or cats more??"

Interests: I love novels - reading and writing them - and I will joyfully ramble about books with you, and read your rambles, if you so desire. My friends describe me as being very enthusiastic about other people's projects as well as my own, and I will be your cheer squad in whatever your creative pursuits may be. I honestly love building up other artist and writers and supporting their projects. It makes me really happy to see others exploring their creative side, so I will cheer you on if you're okay with it!

The Touchy Subjects: I'm politically progressive but not really interested in talking about it - I ramble about it enough about that with my friends and family. I don't really have a religious affiliation but I hold no judgement for people who do: if it helps you and doesn't hurt anybody, I am all for it! :) I describe myself more as a spiritual seeker than anything else, and I'm open to discussion of our respective journeys, but can leave that aside if you don't wish to discuss that with a stranger.

You: Hopefully in the US, since it's really hard to send mail internationally right now. My only other request is no judgement for my pen collection being almost entirely entry-level pens (my go-to is the TWSBI Eco or LAMY Safari). Otherwise, I'm open to penpals of any demographic, age, or even political bent, as long as we keep the discussion on fun stuff like books and art and fountain pens.

I'm told I have legible handwriting, and I can write in either print or cursive, whichever is more comfortable for you.

I hope this isn't too much information. Feel free to message me on here and we'll work out addresses and such. :D

Hello, I was recommended to try this from the recent thread about the disappearance of personal letter writing. So here goes.

I am retired now for a few years, and have been letting myself go more than I hoped I would. I am married, my husband is from Japan, and that whole thing could generate a lot of comedy sketches by a more skilled writer than I am. Before Corona, I used to volunteer for a local non-profit where we plant and prune young street trees to help them get established and grow well (little-known fact: SF has one of the smallest tree canopies among major US cities, we are trying to change that). I hope to be able to resume that activity at some point. I read mysteries within a fairly narrow range (cozy but not too cozy, no cats, no cooking). I don't watch much TV, I just can't seem to get interested in that any more. I have been interested in fountain pens for about 18 months, my interest seems to focus on the marvelous engineering, and on the physical beauty of the objects. We have a yard, and I am planning now my second attempt to concoct a shade garden in a corner that gets no light at all.

That seems like enough for going on with. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello. I have a number of correspondents I enjoy. Yet I’m looking for a correspondent who’s a fine artist, specifically from southern California. I live in the east, so it would serve as a good contrast.

I suppose I have always admired the story of the french impressionist painters who shared their challenges, goals, etc with one another. It seemed to me it fueled their practice and dedication for their craft.

If you're a serious practicing fine artist who'd like to correspond about the work etc., do PM me.

Greetings,

Currently I am student living in NYC. Since due to recent events I have a completely online class schedule now and extra time for letter writing. I'm studying English and some of my hobbies are writing, reading fantasy/fiction, collecting stationery, video games, travel, drawing, cats, and my computer. Usually I'm fine with most topics except politics and religion.

My favorite FP is Pelikan and I like Sailor Inks. I look forward to hearing from you :cloud9:

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for additional pen pals. I currently write to about 12 people .. mostly in the US but not entirely. I love to cook and work in the yard.. frankly, I pretty much love everything out of doors.... especially the night sky. Although COVID has a lid on things we really enjoy travel. I'm recently retired from a great career selling medical software. I tend to reply to letters fairly quickly but have no expectations on those writing me. I'm married to the same woman for 42 years in 2020. We have two adult children and one foster grandchild. (with any luck we'll be able to remove the foster part before the end of next year:) )

My handwriting is legible and I am by no means an artist at any level. I'd love to hear from you... I love writing letters.

Hello,

I am looking for some more pen pals. Lately a lot of my former correspondence has dried up and I haven't been sending or receiving as many letters as I used to. I'm male, in my mid 30s and have a wife and two small kids. I'd enjoy writing about just about anything, but have a particular interest in fountain pens, other writing stuff, history and historical reenacting, cryptozoology and UFOs, gaming, etc. Feel free to drop me a PM for address--I'll try to check my FPN inbox more regularly.

Thanks,

Dan aka 5thhistorian

Hi everyone,

I am back looking for another penpal or two to make all this sitting at home more fun. I enjoy getting to know people from all walks of life and talking about and learning new things. I am male, 30 years old, live in the Midwest, and work as a specification writer for a door hardware company (exciting stuff...). My hobbies include reading, watching too much television, practicing calligraphy, and trying to learn to draw. Hopefully this interests you and we can start up a correspondence. Thanks for taking a look at this.

It's been a long time since I wrote a letter. It would be fun to take it up again.

I'm an old guy,68 to be exact, but I have many interests and am always ready to learn something new. I was trained as a cabinetmaker when I was younger, and finished up as a therapy aide in a mental institution. I've had several careers.

I like people and love to write. I'm a tea drinker, and have a shih Tzu who bosses me around.

My name is Doug. The zookie refers to a motorcycle I once had.

My grandmother had a shih tzu and my nickname for my cousin is Zookie! I did a double-take when I first saw your name. But what's the shih tzu called? :)

I'd love to get back into letter writing. UK based, shortly to be 43, I am all kinds of LGBT (no, really, *all* kinds) and I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy, baking and swing dance. Work is a mental health charity at the moment and... er... idk, glitter and sprinkles?

Hi everyone!

I'm new in this lovely forum. I was a bit skeptic about posting a penpal request here because I might be looking for something different - a real friendship through letters. I'm not really an expert on fountain pens and I only own a few. What I love is to write long letters and journals, to share my uos and downs, ramble, complain, celebrate... like a real life friendship.

I'm 41 years old, happily married, working very hard managing a team in an international advertising company.

In my free time I like to read, write (obviously), take care of my plants, color adult coloring books, travel(now I can't and it's killing me), long walks in the forest... I also like watching movies and TV series on Netflix, especially sci-fi and horror.

I speak a few languages and I just completed the A2 certificate of Russian.

If anyone is interested, drop me a line.

Hello, all! I'm a new member of FPN and new to the hobby in general but I've been a life-long lover of all things pens and stationery so it was really only a matter of time before I dove head-first into fountain pens! I find myself wanting to make a few friends in the hobby and maybe even swap samples of inks (I'm still figuring out what sorts of colors and properties I like - the more I try, the more I learn!).

A little about me: I'm 25, I use she/her pronouns, and I'm in the Southern US. I'm passionate about the obvious (pens/inks/stationery) as well as books and reading (I love chatting about books!!!), creative writing, baking, nature photography, and (recently) creating stained glass art! I'm also about to begin my graduate studies in Fall 2021, in the hopes of earning a PhD in Literature. My passion is the Restoration & 18th Century British literature, particularly Restoration drama. There is something absolutely magical (and downright depraved, at times!) about the Restoration Playhouse. Aside from that niche, I'm an avid learner and I love to talk about all things humanities, including literature, history, art history, psychology, sociology, and women's & gender studies. But that's just the tip of the iceberg - I just love writing letters!

Happy to talk with anyone about nearly anything - I would prefer to steer conversation away from politics and religion, and keep things positive and friendly. No pressure for fast responses from me. I know life can get chaotic - especially these days! Letters from me would sometimes include goodies like prints of my photography, ink samples and swatches, and other bits and bobs I might come across that remind me of you! :) Hope to hear from some potential penpals soon!

I am a 62 year old retired secondary school English teacher in Scotland. Male. Currently I write to around twenty people. Your age and situation in life are immaterial: all welcome. Feel free to write on any subject of interest and I don't do 'no religion, no politics' as they are ordinary aspects of life. My letters are  mostly reflections on daily life and what happens to occur to me about what is going on, and about your interests, of course.  Please PM if interested.

Hello all,

I've returned here after 5 years. Work and other "resposibilities" prevented me to reply. I would like to start again. I'm from Buenos Aires. I like reading mostly. I have some other interests too, but I prefer to leave them for the letters. I will need some inspiration ;-)

If you are interested, let me know.

Hello Everyone,

I live near Portsmouth, New Hampshire with my wife of 28 (!) years. I have been a self-employed commercial photographer since 1989. I use my cameras for personal exploration and pleasure as well. I am also a part-time musician who plays jazz, rock, blues, funk and gospel with a 5 piece band and a few others here and there. I have been enjoying fountain pens since I was a little boy and got into my parents stash of them from their days in college. I now have a handful that I enjoy writing with on a daily basis both at work and for my own satisfaction.

I am half-Italian and would love to travel to Italy someday to see where my grandparents used to live. I'd also like to travel through the EU "in general" to witness how others live. Once the world gets back on its feet I plan to make it more of a priority. Maybe I can put 8 years of French class to work someday:)

Please PM me if you'd like to chat it up through the mail. Cheers!

Nicholas

I should add that I would be very happy to reconnect with any former correspondents, particularly any who never received a reply: I have always replied, but experience has shown me that some mail does go astray.
