Snail Mail Writing List

I've been thinking recently about getting a pen pal. I'd love a reason to use my fountain pens for actual letters. So I'll toss my name in the hat as well. I'm not picky about country so don't be shy if your outside the U.S, though I can only read and write english.

I'm a K9 handler as my primary job. I love reading, riding horses and all things teaching any other knowledge I may have . I have many random interests and hobbies but I'm currently attempting to learn violin, improve my handwriting (though um...my lack of patience for it gets in the way hahahah) and I'm attending collage for business management.

I grew up on a small ranch in colorado and I can talk about horses for days, and days and days. hahaha. I'm still very active with horses and of course dogs. I rarely talk politics, but I love a good debate. So many people don't know how to discuss a topic and not fly off the handle. So if you'd like to discuss differing views on topics (if we have differing views) then count me in too. Im pretty open to a lot of things so don't be shy! Any who, if anyones interested send me a message :D

edit: I should say I'm in my late 20's and while I work with dogs I prefer cats as a pet at home hahahaha. I'm female and I also love writing, as in novels, though I've never actually knuckled down and finished one I'm working on persevering till the bitter end.

I would like to throw my hat in the ring. I'm a retired RN that specialized in Spinal Cord Injury. Started my medical/nursing career as a US Navy Hospital Corpsman, Long time musician, my wife (vocalist) and I met playing in a band 30 + years ago, and are still playing together. We are also both certified NRA iInstructors. Two kids, five grandkids, and currently two dogs that allow us to be part of their lives. Love reading and movies. Would like to find a couple pen pals, but I am only fluent in English. Please PM if possible.

I would like to try this as well. As it is my first time and because of time restriction due to my job I like to start of with 1 or 2 people. I do have a few preferences not to discriminate or to leave people out believe me.

I would like to receive letters from people from country's which native language is English. Europe/Scandinavia is also fine. Preferably no letters from the eastern block, except Slovakia and the Czech Republic ( Have been there for work and the people were Wonderfull, as long as I have not been to a country I am a bit hesitant).

No Africa (due to a bad experience at a school project, we got replies begging for cellphones etc) or Asia except Japan.

Male or female, that does not matter to me, age is also not a concern for me. Although the age group 20-35 would preferable. I am 22 myself.

As I stated in my introduction topic, I love motorcycle's, especially oldtimers. I also like cars that are oldtimers but not as much as motorcycles. Music and history are also a huge interest of mine and I am open for a healthy discussion, although if it tends to be about politics or religion, I will pass.

The sole reason for me trying this is that I love to explore. And because of the nature of my job I can not travel as much as I would like to. Again not to discriminate. I just want this to be a good experience. If interested please PM me.

Kind regards,

Robin.

Newbie here. DW and I recently retired to Northern Arizona. Prescott. I'm originally from Hawaii and grew up there. Play and sing Hawaiian music. Love Asian and Hawaiian culture. Former Economics/literature grad. Building contractor, R/E developer.

DW and I are also professional photographers part time. PM me for our website. We also have equestrian horses and a guard cat that sleeps on the job. I love baroque and cello music and oldies. Also, chess and golf and other outdoor things. I spend time mentoring on financial and business forums (Bogleheads) as well as following world and national news.

I love to write and compose and appreciate a "well turned word". (love literature) I am also trying to improve my penmanship. Would love to have some pen pals (english only). Female or male is fine. PM if you are interested in an intro letter exchange to start. Thank you so much for reading this post.

I have been thinking about getting into pen pals myself, so throw me in.

I live in Alabama but through a couple online services such as DeviantArt, I converse with people the world over though I am only really fluent in English. Although if someone wants to help me learn and give me a reason to practice with another language, I am certainly up for it. I tried Spanish, and want to learn German and other similar languages from that region, but finding people who speak it is proving a bit challenging. I am also a little bit of an artist, but am not great. I am also a little bit of a furry as well. As such, there are a couple books I am trying to write.

I am relatively new to the pen hobby and am beginning to try to build up a collection until I decide which direction I want to go with it.

Although I haven't done it much, I also like some of the outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and hiking. Beyond that, I mostly just work.

If it isn't too bright for you, it isn't bright enough for me.

Count me in! Would love a use/justification for buying all these pens! Willing to write anyone as I believe you can learn something from everyone no matter what they do or stage of life they are in.

About me:

33 Male, was medically retired from the USAF after 13 years. I suffer from severe OCD so i find comfort in working and I always have to have my plate full. I have owned a chain of gaming stores for ~14 years (think video games, Magic The Gathering, Pokemon).

Have a BS in Cyber Security as well as a BS in Emergency management (Crises/disaster). Due to my disabilities I have a minimal role in managing my stores. I spend most of my time reading and doing anything that seems fun in that moment. Have lived in Germany, Guam, and Korea. Have been all over the world many times over on shorter stays. Currently reside in Louisiana and i spend summers in my home located in Virginia.

It seems like I am going through the same "figuring out what i want to be when i grow up" over again now that i am disabled and my career was ended early.

If you are interested in starting a correspondence shoot me a PM. Again, I will write anyone because i truly believe I can learn from everyone. I don't care if your gay, straight, male, female, ugly, good looking or even pink or purple.

Oh no it's me again.

I now have four very good pen-pals two courtesy of this forum and two by some other means.

I am looking for a fifth preferably from Scotland such as Edinburgh or somewhere more rural.

My other pen-pals are all in the US.

I'm 37 so ideally the same age or younger.

My interests are of course Fountain pens, reading, writing, music especially blues, cycling, country walks, the Seaside and Sea Angling. Architecture mainly medieval, Victorian and Gothic. History and the Paranormal. Science and Nature.

Amazing I've got time for a life really but I'm very well read I just don't go out hunting ghosts (probably too scared).

I have 7 year old twins who live with their Mother and my fiance and I are expecting a baby daughter within the next month.

If you want to exchange at least one letter a month and you think we've got something in common then send me a PM. Who'd write first is the only question that remains.

Ideally I'd like to discuss life, the Universe and everything in my letters. You can write me anything.

Yes it's me back once again with the ill behaviour after a 3 year hiatus from all things inky.

So what's changed well apart from me and the children being older quite a lot including a few of my interests but you'd have to write to me to hear about that.

Old penpals are more than welcome to drop me a DM.

New ones also and I'm particularly interested in writing to people in Ireland and Native Americans. No idea why just a whim I have that I'm hoping some brave souls will indulge. I seem to write more to women than men though, can't think why.

Regards, David.

I guess posting here in January is going to become a tradition.

In my last post in this thread I indicated that I was about to start grad school to get a teaching degree. Currently I'm trying to graduate, I have only two assignments left to hand in.

I'm 28 and I like taking walks to clear my head (and to secretly play Pokemon Go), music, listening to podcasts, writing in my journal, fountain pens, inks and paper. Of course I also like writing letters. Reading is, next to fountain pens and writing, my main hobby. I mostly read fantasy books (big Robin Hobb fan) but I am open to everything. I'm an aunt to two nephews (4 and 6), which is loads of fun, and I love dogs.

If you're interested, free feel to PM me. If you want to know more about me, PM me :).

Hi all!

I'm looking specifically for a German speaker to exchange letters with. I'm a native English speaker, but would like to practice my German, and am happy to help a German speaker practice English in return. I am currently located in the US.

I'm interested in nearly everything (hence my years and years of school) and in my free time I dance Tango, make stuff, lately I've been trying to improve my handwriting but largely failing. :)

Fee free to PM me!

Hey all; first post! My name is Jackie. I've been writing with fountain pens for a few years now and would love to get some good old paper mail. I'm a F in my late 20s and live in the middle west of N. America. I studied psychology in undergrad and theology in grad school, but now I work for an insurance company and a nonprofit organization (so, livin the dream, basically ;) ). I love to travel and love learning about other cultures and wouldn't mind an international penpal. I'm a pretty avid reader - tend toward classic literature, poetry, philosophy, spirituality, or whatever's got an award stuck on it. Even if you wanted to just share the occasional handwritten poem with me, I'd love that. I dabble in calligraphy, so I'd love to practice that in a letter as well. Other than that I love taking photos, cooking, watching movies, and exploring my city. Please hit me up if you're interesting in writing!

This sounds like a great idea. My name is Andrew. Im from Melbourne in Australia and Im in my early 30s. Ive been married for nearly 3 years and dont have any kids, nor do we plan to at this stage. I work in the Aviation industry as an Air Traffic Controller. I also volunteer for the State Emergency Service (SES). My volunteer role involves emergency storm and flood response as well as Rescue including road crash rescue and industrial rescue. I also like to fly light aircraft.

I studied a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Aviation out of high school. I'm considering going back to university and studying Paramedicine in the next 12 months or so. Ive developed a strong interest in emergency medicine in my volunteer role. It would also be a good option for me as a backup career.

I really enjoy travel. So far Ive traveled most of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, The United States and a little over half the countries in Europe. I really like hearing about other countries so Id be happy to correspond with someone from anywhere in the world. I only speak English fluently however, I am trying to learn German.

Im an avid reader. At the moment Im mainly reading Science Fiction but Im also a big fan of Crime Thrillers. Some of my favorite authors include Lee Child, Joshua Dalzelle and S. H. Jucha. Im also considering having a go at writing my own novel. Im in the process of developing a story.

I am relative new to the fountain pen world. I have had a couple of Lamy Safaris for a couple of years. However, I didnt really use them too much for most of the time Ive owned them. When I first got them I made the mistake of not getting decent paper. As such, I didnt have the best experience. About a month or so ago I found them hidden away in a draw and rediscovered how great a fountain pen can be. Since then Ive purchased a few more pens including some Twsbis and a Pilot metropolitan. Ive also acquired some nice paper and quite a few ink samples. Its safe to say now that I have a few mores pens, ink and some nice paper Im hooked.

If anyone is interested in corresponding let me know.

Hi I am Milan and I really like this idea of this thread.

As this is my first post here, some introductions are in order.

I am male 28 and I come from east corner of Czech Republic. I have studied at University twice in both cases I had to drop out just before getting a degree and now I am enrolled for the third time hoping to finally getting a degree. But I have good knowledge in translatology and physics and biology. (My subject at my previous stints at uni were Biophysics and English for community translatology and interpreting). I can be sometimes really be scatterbrained. I speak English, Czech and I have basics in German (but they are really basics, like it has been 6 years since I have used them last time) and I understand Polish.

Despite my unsuccessful studies I have worked in several companies as translator, clerk and even as a ride operator in one amusement park. Friends tell me that without my morning dose of caffein I am snarky grouch and after that I am just snarky and cynical. My humour might sometimes be bit dark.

To my interests I like animals dogs, cats (I am hopping at getting job at local ZOO, and I like animals as they do not irritate me as much as general public does at occasions), flying, (although thanks to my sight I can only fly sail planes). I really like old propeller airplanes (like Lockheed L-10 electra), vintage cars (Fords, Tatras) and I am avid reader. I like to think that I am .303 cal bookworm. I do admit I am toying with several concepts of stories and my ambition is to write novel so far I have written several smaller short stories and essays. I like music and I play piano and guitar, but my taste in music is eclectic at the best, as I listen to most of genres. I like watching movies from old to new again though I have this love of old black and white movies and sci-fis Star Wars, firefly... And I am occasional gamer.

I am fan of fountain pens for some time although I have started to take interest in them recently. I currently have 3 pens The oldest one, which I have for over 6 years and I was exclusively using it for most of my writting during this time is Sheaffer VFM, then I have bought Kaweco AL sport stonewashed and now I have my first piston filler Pilot Custom Heritage 92 with m nib. My writing is well lets be honest here it is as disorganised and messy as I am in real life, but I like to write by hand anyway.

So if anyone wants to correspond with me PM me.

Cheers Milan

Hello! I would like to give it a try and find a few pen pals. I haven't been here for a long while!

I'm in my 30's and I was born in Spain. I love traveling and meeting new people from other countries, to learn about their culture, traditions, etc... some of my best friends are living in a foreign country. Mostly I travel around Europe, but I've been in Asia and I plan to go to the US soon.

Besides traveling I'm crazy about sports. I spend hours outside (cycling or hiking), no matter the weather. I also like visiting caves, astronomy and science. I'm an avid reader (science fiction, mystery, crime) and a writer (letters, journals, novels).

If you'd like to start corresponding with me, send me a PM.

Hi Snailies

How I envy you all with postal addresses. I am on an extended road trip, so far my efforts to find an e-penpal have have only unearthed those needing a passport, marriage or money.

I plan (as much as I ever plan) to return to UK during 2018 when weather is warm enough for me when Ill be looking for a snail mail penpal. In the meantime I would be pleased to begin an exchange via internet if anyone is interested.

I am not a collector but a user of entry level fountain pens. Other interests include photography, writing, ham radio, walking (town or country). I live a minimalist lifestyle and have been a level 7 vegetarian (only eat things that dont cast a shadow) since my teens. I also have a sense of humour.

Hello all!

I have been a member of FPN for about ten years now, although I do spend chunks of time away because of serious chronic illness and disability. The past two years have been extremely difficult, in fact three times it looked as though I’d not see 2018. But here I am!

I used to write to several folks on here and over time have let things slide. I’m so sorry to those peeps. I miss sending and receiving snails. So, if anyone would like to pick up their pen and write to me, here is a little bit about me:

Ive been a wheelchair user since birth, having been born with a spinal injury. I love pens and I love writing. (I have a first cl Hons degree in English, History and Creative Writing.) I live in the Highlands of Scotland with my husband and two Labradors, both professionally trained Assistance dogs (one retired). I enjoy discussing all things medical and would really love to correspond with folks who have similar problems to me, or work in that field, esp in they have experience in spinal injuries...but I also have other interests: Reading, movies, playing harmonica (badly), crocheting, knitting, hand embroidery. And getting out in the countryside on a adapted handbike attached to my chair (look up ‘Quickie Attitude Hybrid’ on youtube if you’d like to see how they work)

Anyway, if there’s anyone out there that would like to exchange letters wit me please drop me a PM

Cheers

Tawanda

Hello everyone,

My name is Anthony, I live in NC, USA and I am 26 years old. I have been married for over two years now and my wife and I have two wonderful dogs. I am looking for an opportunity to correspond and learn from others. At the moment I am a high school mathematics teacher, and I am currently applying for PhD programs in pure mathematics. I have many interests such as math, music (both listening and playing), reading, running, football, and photography. I mostly read non-fiction and I am currently reading Hamilton by Ron Chernow, but I have been known, once and a while, to read a good science fiction book. Many people consider me an old soul because I don't have a smart phone, don't use any social media sites, and I really don't watch TV. Overall I am not a stereotypical millennial, and I thoroughly enjoy the pursuit of knowledge in any and all subjects. Politically, I am open to debating specific policies and I am willing to change my beliefs, if given a sufficient argument to do so. Religiously and philosophically, though I hold to the Christian belief system, I have many questions and would love to be able to discuss all the paradoxes and conundrums of life. Overall, I am basically interested in anything not pop-culture.If any of this interests you please send me a PM.

Happy writing!

Anthony
