Pelikan M600 From Regina Martini

Recommended Posts

I just bought a Pelikan Souveran M600 from Regina Martini. It was advertised as mint, unused, etc (i.e., brand new). She confirmed this when I called her. However, the package she sent contains no box, no warranty card/"user manual", etc; just the pen. She told me she is an authorized dealer, so this is even more of a surprise. I'm left wondering if this is indeed a new pen, and whether it is even a real Pelikan. That said, the pen looks "new", i.e., unblemished.

Before I do anything about it, I thought I'd find out from this forum. Here are my questions:

- How would I know if the pen is new or is indeed a Pelikan? What should I look for?

- What experiences have you had with Regina Martini?

Many thanks...

Simius

Greetings and welcome to FPN. Regina is top-notch, in my experience. I've bought many treasured pens from her. In fact, my first Pelikan came from her years ago. I can't recall if it came with box and papers. I'm sure if there's a problem she will make it right.

Have heard nothing but positives about Regina, although I've never made a purchase from her myself (came close a couple of times). I could be wrong, but I don't think fake Pelikans exist. There are those made to look similar, but they are not marked Pelikan.

I have a couple of 800's from her. They came in a simple square cardboard box, printed Pelikan, no papers. Definetly not a presentation box, but for the price I did not care.

I have ordered numerous items from her and quality and service are exceptional, and I am talking about both new items, and some from her auction site, where descriptions seem to be spot on.

Just remember if you order a new Pelikan from her and need warrenty service, it must be returned to Germany, the importer/servicing agency here will not touch them.

Regards

Jeff

Folks,

Many thanks for the quick and informative replies. I'm much more reassured after hearing good things about Regina Martini.

I guess my anxieties originated from two sources. First, I bought the pen on impulse and without finding out about Regina. Second, all my purchases of Waterman pens from Pen Seller From France must have spoiled me - packages in pristine condition, nice original boxes, etc. I probably expected something similar.

This is my first Pelikan after a long dalliance with Waterman, and I look forward to writing with it. Would much appreciate suggestions for ink to use.

Thanks,

Simius

I have draw full of pens purchased from Regina over the years. I was really nervous on the first order (Germany >ship> USA). But all was well and I ordered another and another... Some of my "new" pens came in fancy cardboard Pelikan boxes big enough to hold a dozen pens, some came in low profile Pelikan boxes, some came in square tube like Pelikan box, and came in bubble wrap. But all were clearly new pens.

I think the packaging was usually described with the pen, I'm not sure. I don't remember ever seeing a warranty card or manuel with my Pelikans (maybe I just never cared). But she offered models I couldn't get here, and delivered with excellent service and no headaches.

I expect that your invoice/receipt will qualify as well as any warranty card (yes, she is an authorized dealer). I've never spoken with her, but her emails were always nice and prompt. Send her a thank you note, and ask "Just in case, what do I do if I need warranty service?"

Since I'm an expert you can trust from the internet  , I can say you can sleep easy and have nothing to worry about. Open up the ink bottle.

You don't indicate your location--sometimes Regina will ask if you want the box or not, at least she did in my case and I'm in the USA. I've always found Regina to be top notch and a VERY reputable dealer. Enjoy your Pelikan!

i'm glad you're reassured--and yes indeed Ms. Martini is tip notch. I have pestered her for numerous things, and she has been more than graceful in all of our transactions.

Hi All,

This is my first post to FPN.

I've bought several Pelikans from Regina and been very happy.

Occasionally I've got my pens for a very very good price.

She usually specifies details of box and papers and is most attentive.

My recent purchases have included both box and papers.

The reply before mine is intriguing!?

Best Wishes & Thanks for this wonderful site

Andrew in Sydney Aus.

Don't forget that you get what you pay for - and the box is something the seller has to pay.

So use the pen in good health and forget the boxes and all the other things. At the end it's a tool, that has to be used.

There are no facts, there is no truth - just a data to be manipulated...

Tombstone raises a good point: why should I care about boxes when a pen is a tool that's to be used? Personally, I don't care about boxes. I don't even care about buying from authorized dealers (just bought a Carene Contemporary from Costco, who are not authorized Waterman dealers). So, why was I taken aback when I got the shipment from Regina Martini?

I think there are two reasons. The level of uncertainty (or it is anxiety?) is relatively high when buying on the internet from a (to me at least) complete unknown and paying a less-than trivial price. Getting the item in a well-packed condition with papers, etc., is a signal that reduces the level of uncertainty/ anxiety (although, admittedly, a gorgeous box and lots of papers could simply serve as cover for a mediocre product). The second reason is that of prior expectations. I've bought several Waterman pens from J-M Lewertowski (aka Pen Seller from France), and have always received them in their original cases with all papers, etc. That led me to expect something similar from Regina Martini. Not getting the package that way raised questions about the provenance of the item and the credibility of the seller - although I should have raised the second question before, not after, the transaction. Many thanks again to the members of the forum for the responses. I now have greater clarity on both questions. Thanks also to Tombstone for putting the topic in perspective.

Mrs. Regina Martini is an experienced and a very knowledgeable dealer of pens, including Pelikan. I have purchased several pens from her and the service has been top notch. She is also a member here on FPN. Anyway Pelikan Germany stands 100% behind all pens made by them, they honor their guarantee regardless of where/who it was purchased from and how old it is. I have experienced their great service First Hand.

On my personal top ten list of german onlineshops Regina Martini is my absolute number one. Her service and her knowledge are excellent and she has always an outstanding repertoire of fountain pens. In terms of Pelikan I call her the female Pope.

Best regards

I have been in liaison with Regina for more than 10 years and I can vouch that she always provide excellent services and her sold pens to me, either rare or current, were all superb and in full satisfaction. I am sure should there be any comments on her sale, she would handle and respond to it positively. I do not have any special affiliation with her but just a happy and satisfied customer. :)

I have been selling Pelikan pens in FPN for a number of years by now. I must say that Regina is one very respectable Pelikan pen seller that I have came across all these years. I have very cordial dealings with her (competitors? No. Never). I have only compliments and no complaint.

Thanks to everyone who replied - your views were most helpful. I'm impressed that Regina Martini is held in such high regard in this forum.

As a postscript to this discussion, I've decided to keep the pen and have inked it this morning. My initial impression is utterly positive, and I intend to put it through its paces in the next days.

I'm late to the party here, but just want to add my high regard for Regina who I regard as a colleague and a friend.

If the original poster has any problem with anything he or she has purchased from Ms. Martini all they need do is to take their concerns to her I know Regina will make them right.
