Which Inks Are You Using Today?

De Atramentis Elderberries. It feathers quite a bit so I recently switched my nib from a medium to a fine and now it's useable. With the medium nib I had to write larger than I usually write.

Today I'm using an ink that I thought at first was too dark but it has grown on me! Diamine Twilight Blue!

Two of my daily musts - Yama-Budo and Ebony Purple - saw heavy action today. Getting reacquainted w/DA Plum and Tsuki-Yo. One is likely to end up in a full bottle order, one not. Also re-inked two other "daily" pens w/favorites: Diamine Sherwood Green and Ancient Copper.

Ever had one of those days when you were begging for something to write? ;) Yeah, one of those...

Three inks today, in pens with nibs: J. Herbin Gris Nuage and Perle Noire, in my Platinum Cool fine nib, and black Pilot Metropolitan medium nib, respectively; and, in my TWSBI 580 1.1mm stub, Iroshizuku Kon-Peki.

Just filled a repaired Lamy with the much-fabled Diamine Syrah. While red-toned inks aren't normally my taste, I'm definitely seeing the allure with this one. May need to consider a full bottle.

This morning, I also filled a frustratingly dry pen with PR Tanzanite as part of its looooooooong "breaking in" process. Breaking in also includes a new, broad nib. The change in color of my favorite ink of all is fascinating: downright purple in the thick lines being laid down by the new nib.

Today I am using 4...

- Diamine Midnight. I like it, but I would like a darker blue-black. I will keep searching.

- Noodler's Dragon's Napalm. Not the typical red. Something between red & orange for my eye, but excellent to take margin notes.

- Noodler's Apache Sunset. Beautiful shading. I love to play with this ink and flex pens.

- Lamy turquoise. Light color, but one of the nicest turquoise inks for me, jointly with Noodler's Navajo.

Now I need a black. Options available at home: Noodler's black, Pilot TakeSumi, Noodler's BB, J. Herbin Perle Noir. Not sure what will be my choice!

  • 2 weeks later...

using Diamine Cult Pens' Deep Dark Blue for the first time. Very interesting ink. As you can see from my signature, I have a bunch of blues going right now. This is almost as smooth as Noodlers Eel Blue. It is realllllly dark, but dries quickly enough for this lefty. I'm also using Diamine Registrars for the first time, and it clearly works better in a wet pen than a dry one. Love watching it turn black.
