Which Inks Are You Using Today?

Diamine Macassar in a newly arrived TWSBI Eco Smoke. So far, so good: a dark brown that flows very well (could be the nib too, I really like these coated nibs).

I bought the ink months ago in a quest to find a successor for Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz, then ended up with two extra bottles of that and forgot about the little box with the quest inks. Others in there are Diamine Espresso, Triple Chocolate and Deep Dark Brown. That's a lot of brown ink, but now back at the front of the shelf they'll all see plenty of use as good drawing colours as well as writing.

Will work for pens...

I used a sample of Noodlers Saguaro Wine in a Pilot Prera ivory pen with a B calligraphy nib swapped from a Plumix in a Pilot Enso calligraphy set (Iris).

That combination sounds very attractive.

Still Kyo-Iro Soft Snow of Ohara, Robert Oster Barossa Grape, Sailor Kobe Suma Purple, and J Herbin Cacao du Bresil.  Outside there are daffodils in bloom, and Great Blue Herons are busy at their nests, but at my writing desk it is still winter.

Today it's been some vintage ink: Sanford Pen-It Brown (in the Pastel Green Snorkel, F-ish nib).

A nice color -- medium brown with some shading.  I need to compare it to other vintage brown inks (like vintage Quink Brown and vintage Skrip Brown).
I don't have a whole lot of it (half of a 1 oz. bottle from an estate sale a few months ago) but it only cost me a couple of bucks.  I've already tried the Pen-It Green bought at the same time (I have nearly a full bottle of it) and it was also a nice color -- medium green that didn't lean either yellow or teal.

The Sailor Jentle Blue got exhausted quickly, and Sailor Kobe #50 Legend Blue replaced it, going into the Edison Collier "Metallurgy".

I don't know what legendary ink this Legend Blue is supposed to represent. It's not quite saturated enough to be PPS, and it's not soft enough to be a Royal Blue. Somewhere in between those two. Very pleasing.

The next pen up for the rotation was the Edison Mina LE in Silver Amber. It got Noodler's Beaver. This was my second bottle of ink. Oh, what a slippery path one can fall on! Those wrascally wabbits and their pesky holes! 😁

And I just refilled the Edison Beaumont pneumatic with Montblanc Midnight Blue.

Pilot Iroshizuku shin-ryoku, J Herbin 350 Vert Atlantide, Cross Violet. The three pens are inexpensive, new ones made of hardened aluminum. They all have EF nibs, so the sheen of the Atlantide isn't visible.

i'd love to see pictures of the three. I love Shin Ryoku and I've considered the new 350. What do you think of it?

Lamy Blue and Yama-budo.  Lamy Blue is really growing on me...except for a minor hard start today. Once flowing it’s grand!

I agree GardenWeasel. Lamy Blue has been a been a pleasant surprise to me also. I haven't tried Yama-budo yet.

Sailor Souboku is a touch darker but is my favourite Blueblack today.

My next choice today needs little introduction, Cacao du Bresil. I always buy extra of this remarkable ink. I would never wish to run out because I haven't found a close comparison yet.

There is one ink I would love to try. Can anyone comment on the mythical 'Pen and Message, "Cigar"?
