Yama-budo. I’d forgotten how very nice it’s lubricity and flow is in a Nakaya nib. 😍

I just inked up an ink from Tono & Lims that I just received called Sachertorte, a saturated, chocolatey brown that lives up to its namesake.  So far it’s been well behaved, wet, and lubricated without any significant feathering/ghosting/bleed through on cheap paper.  It’s the first from this ink manufacturer that I’ve tried, and I’m pleased so far.

I confess that I immediately looked to see whether they also have an ink called Zwetschgenknödel.

I’m not sure what it would look like, but it should be tasty.

Enjoying a little Diamine Oxblood today in my maraschino-colored Estie! :)

What paper are you using?

My Oxblood seems to be a lot more brownish, at least on a Rhodia DotPad.

I perceive the ink in the picture as a lovely dark red.

I'm using a Lochby field journal insert with Tomoe River 68gsm paper. :) You're spot on - I've noticed more brown in Oxblood in other journals, but I think it looks much more red on the TR paper!

I just realized I have 12 pens inked! That's way too many at one time, and I need to back them way down this weekend.

Primary users today:

  • Iroshizuku Shin-kai -- PIlot Vanishing Point (F)
  • Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue - Parker Vacumatic (M), azure blue
  • Montblanc James Purdey & Sons Single Malt - Montblanc 342 (Stenographer's Fine)

Thanks for the observations! I am amazed, given how much TR paper I have around, and how frequently I have a pen inked with Oxblood, that I don’t think I have ever tested my Oxblood on Tomoe River paper.

I may just be about to see Diamine Oxblood, if not in a whole new light, at least on a whole new paper. 😃

Isn't it such a treat to discover a new quality of an old favorite? After making the switch from cheaper journal paper to TR, I was shocked to learn that my favorite ink (Diamine Steel Blue) had the slightest red sheen. Such a delightful surprise!

Interesting. The filled square definitely shows a lighter blue sheen, but I don’t really see it in the text. Is it more obvious in person? Or is is more of a shading thing?

It’s this super cheap Oberon journal paper. It’s not actually as bad as writing on a paper towel, but it’s junk.

Oh, the Kingdom Note Jellyfish and other series are still available in Japan. Much more complicated to obtain in the US.

I think I know that kind of paper. I generally use it to jot shopping lists with a pencil or ballpoint, or to start a fire in the fireplace...😛
