Kyo no oto urahairo in a newly-revitalised Pelikan 140 - an almost perfect match to it's slightly aged binde. Enjoying it a lot as the slightly unusual (and rather tuneful) nib and I make friends.

So far today it's been Kobe Rokku Forest Blue, in the grey Decimo, F nib.

At the start if the year new fills!

TAG Kyoto Kyo-no-oto Nureba-iro (Pelikan M101N Red Tortoiseshell)

Sailor Pen & Message Writing Lab Old Burgundy (Edison Collier "Metallurgy")

Sailor Taccia (Nakabayashi) Hokusai koiai (Edison Brockton)

The Nureba-iro is a coal black ink with silver like sheen, similar to Kiwa-guro, but not having the pencil-like appearance the Sailor ink can have. It's a very wet ink, almost too wet for the Pelikan which in this case is closer to a broad than a medium. Someday I should have it customized to be a fancier nib.

Robert Oster Midnight Sapphire in an Edison Collier Molten Ores, and Noodler’s Zhivago in a dark Green Marble Leonardo a Momento Zero with a stub nib.

Montblanc Royal Blue - Parker 51 Vacumatic

Today, so far, it's been Iroshizuku Yama-guri, in the dark Blue Decimo, stub nib; diluted Noodler's Baltimore Canyon Blue, in the pink TWSBI 580-AL, B nib; and Noodler's 54th Massachusetts, in the ebonite Noodler's Konrad, flex nib.

Somewhat astonishingly, Yama-guri may be a bit too wet for that stub nib... (I last used it ine the Purple Falcon with a soft F nib and it was a perfect combination).

Trying to be a bit more discipled with my daily journalling. I’ve really let it slide over the holidays. Apparently, I had important TV to watch. So, I’m going back to a new ink color each day for awhile to entice myself:

Monday: Noodler’s American Eel Black in my Montblanc 146 black with a medium nib

Tuesday: Noodler’s FPN Dumas Tulip Noire in my Montblanc 146 Bordeaux with a medium nib. Nice flow, pleasantly wet.

Wednesday: Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine in my Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl with an EF nib. I just started using this ink line this year, but I’m really enjoying it. It really complements Pelikan’s wetter, broaded nibs.

Nice selection of inks (also nice red MB 146, but that's a different discussion for a different thread :) ).

I also enjoy the Edelstein (and Pelikan in general) Inks. As a whole, I find them a bit less saturated than for me similarly enjoyable Pilot inks. Sometimes less saturation is a good thing (though I still don't like the Mandarin).

How do you like the shading of the Aquamarine? I am a lefty, and as such don't use a lot of really wet, broad nibs as daily workhorses, but when I do use wet nibs, I like to see shading.

Yama-guri is one of my favorite overall inks, and it seems to in general run on the wet side for me.

If I use a paper that is just a little bit (but not too) absorbent, I find Yama-guri forms a rich, saturated, dark brown line, occasionally with a hint of green(ish, but you really have to look for it) sheen.

Thanks, Mandarin is the only Current production Edelstein I don’t own. Part of me wants to complete my collection, but I know I’ll use it once and then put it away for ever. Orange inks aren’t usually my thing.

I’ve only used the Aquamarine with a Pelikan EF nib so far. I’ll have to get back to you on the shading. It’s been living in my M805 Ocean Swirl as it’s a perfect pairing.

Today’s ink: Waterman Havana in my Pelikan M800 Brown and Black with a stock italic broad nib. One of my all time favorite brown inks!

I believe we have had this discussion before, but yea, I am still looking for an orange ink that I both like and is legible for more than three words. Orange is not an easy color in many ways.

Thanks. I have lots of blues, but not many that are good shaders. Despite that there are zillions of great shading blue inks out there, I don’t own more than a couple. Given the general performance of Edelstein inks, I think I might like performance of Aquamarine, but I just haven’t gotten around to picking up a bottle yet. Every time I hear of a good experience though, I get a little more motivated to try it.

oooh!...that sounds interesting. I like brown inks, and there is always room in my cabinet for another interesting one.

EDIT: and I just cleaned my M800 Brown/Black the other day, so it is ready to be refilled with something interesting. DilettanteG: Do you have a sample of Waterman Havana written on page that you can share?
