Which Inks Are You Using Today?

And several of the M620 series have silver colored fittings, as does my new M805 Ocean Swirl set. I don't think I've ever been unhappy with purchasing a Pelikan.

Yes, the M6xx chassis got some love with the City Series, and there are a few other special edition models in rhodium trim running around, but if one likes rhodium trim, and is looking for available production, the Stresemann is (unfortunately) about it right for M6x5 now, and that only since recently. In the M405 and M805 offerings include classic blue striped as regular production as well, and there has been a Stresemann model in M405 and M805 size for several years now.

I wonder if the paucity of rhodium in the M6x5 is why I always like to rush out for nearly every M2x5 that hits the market. Not that I have anything against gold trim, but I like some variety once in a while, and with metal alloys you typically get to choose only shades of gold (yellow) or silver (white), maybe a little reddish once in a while when copper gets added to the mix, and the Souverän line seems slanted toward gold-trimmed models.

Trying to get back closer to topic: the good news for me is that as soon as I can get my butt on a flight back to Philadelphia, there is an M605 Stresemann and a bottle of Edelstein Moonstone waiting for me to play with.

I got a chance to dip the Moonstone yesterday, and it is for me a little lighter shade than I typically like for every day use, but it is a unique addition to my ink stash, and is a pleasant medium grey with very interesting shading.

Still using the Petrol in the m150 this week. I decided to use it until it goes dry, something I don't usually do.

I suddenly got very, very agitated and tired of non-[blue|black] inks, and I emptied out Monteverde Fireopal and Robert Oster Blood Crimson. Now I have four pens inked:

Parson's Essential with Waterman Serenity Blue

Kaweco AL-Sport with Nemosine Moon Crater Black

Kaweco Classic Sport with Nemosine Neptune Blue

LAMYJoy with Organics Studio Nitrogen

I feel calmer now.

I'm still trying to finish a fill of Iroshizuku Kujaku, which has been in my Pelikan 140 since sometime around New Year's Day.

I am also nearing the end of a fill of Iroshizuku Murasaki Shikibu in a Peyton Street Pen Works prototype pen with a medium cursive italic nib.

Today it's been:

Edelstein Olivine, in the M400 Anthracite Stresemann, B nib;

diluted vintage Quink Washable Violet, in the Forest Green 51 Aero, EF nib.

Robert Oster Grey Seas, in the Safari Violet SE, B nib.

Oh, and I had some artwork to do (or more specifically re-do ) so it was the black ink in a Uniball rollerball.

I just finished a fill of Murasaki Shikibu, and for the first time in something like 25 years, I don't have a pen inked with purple. I am vacillating as to whether I should try to run out the fill of Iroshizuku Kujaku in my Pelikan 140, which has been inked since about the first of the year, but I don't know that I can pass a day without writing in purple.

I gave the Pelikan 4001 Dark Green a good workout yesterday and toady, and I am really liking it. It is a rich deep green, and it is also well-behaved. I'm not sure why I hadn't tried it sooner, but now I am glad that I did. I am not generally a huge green ink fan, but once it a while I like it for a change of pace for personal notes and occasional correspondence.

Many thanks to those here who are responsible for bringing the 4001 Dark Green to my attention!

Nagasawa Kobe #53 Kitano Pearl Silver - impressed so far.

Sailor Ink Studio 970 - Also impressed

Iroshizuku Ina-Ho

Diamine Manggis - Perhaps the best of the country-exclusive high sheening inks I've tried from Diamine, along with Skull & Roses and Gemilang in close second. Manggis is a Tyrian purple with a strong green-gold sheen.

Noodler's Purple Mountain Majesties, in the Shrek "Puss in Boots" Parker Vector, M nib.

diluted Noodler's 54th Massachusetts, in the Noodler's ebonite Konrad, flex nib.

KWZI IG Blue #3, in the pink Parker Vector, F nib.

And later this evening I will be finishing up the test for myself of De Atramentis Pearlescent Indian Blue Copper, in yet another Vector (black one from the calligraphy set, with the IF nib).

I finally emptied and flushed my Pelikan 140 F, with its fill of Iroshizuku Kujaku, after about 5 months.

Now I have Waterman Purple in a vintage Parker Duofold Junior and Rohrer & Klingner Solferino in a Sailor Pro Gear Slim F.

  • Lamy black - Lamy Al-Star unpainted aluminum, M.
  • Kaweco Royal Blue - Kaweco Perkeo Blue-Gray, M.
  • Monteverde Olivine - Kaweco Sport Black/Gold, M.
  • J.Herbin Bleu des Profondeurs - Lamy Vista, M.

How do you like the KWZ IG Blue #3? I am thinking of getting it or its brother, KWZ IG Blue-Black. Does the #3 stay blue as it dries or does it darken to near black?
