A mix of 123 & 223 Sailor Ink Studio. Experiment goal to darken 123 and lighten 223 to create an in between polychromatic shading grey ink.

Let's see where it goes... I have a color in mind I'm hoping to achieve.

Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu.

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you'll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart."

Stipula Grigio Fumo because the PaperMate with 1864 ran dry right after I got to work; I thought I'd topped it off just last week, guess not.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

The Edison Beaumont pneumatic still has KWZI Baltic Memories, and I don't think it is as feathery as this picture seems to make it.

Newly filled just now:

Edison Menlo pump-filler with Sailor Style Dee Delta Doujima Ryokkin.

Gate City Belmont (Galapagos) with Sailor Maruzen Athena Sepia.

I inked up my trusty Montblanc 146 burgundy with a medium nib with my new bottle of Pelikan Edelstein Garnet. I was expecting a deep red with hints of brown, instead it's a definite red orange. I really like the smooth, lubricating properties of the Edelstein line, but the color choices are odd and maybe a little bit of a misnomer.

I also filled my EF nibbed Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl with a fresh bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-ro. It's a lot more blue than I remember, but still more green than Ku-juku. Lots of great teal toned ink matches for this pen. I do love a peacock blue or green!

I'm working my way thru a twenty bottle haul of mostly Pelikan inks from last month. Great inks, but what is their obsession with orangey reds?

I am a pretty big Pelikan fanboy (maybe not to the degree of sargetalon, but close :) ), to include Pelikan inks, but I find it an endless irritation that Pelikan does not offer a nice, saturated, true red ink. I use Ruby on occasion, but when I really need RED, I have to go elsewhere. 4001 Brilliant Red may be the only Pelikan ink I actually detest.

Yes, 4001 Brilliant Red looks like mercurochrome. No doubt, for someone out there, it's their favorite ink ever, but orangey inks never seem to do it for me.

Which is weird, because I gave in to peer pressure and bought a small 30ml bottle of Diamine Ancient Copper during my last pre-lock down ink haul. I just filled my Pelikan M800 Brown and Black with an IB nib with it. So far, it just looks like a dirty orange. Not getting the love for this ink. Plus, a little annoyed at the newer M800s lack of a visible ink window. Talk about first world problems.

On the other hand, Pelikans and Diamine inks seem to be really well behaved regardless of the pens. I'm looking for safe inks for my M620 collection, so I bought all the Pelikan inks except for the Edelstein Mandarin Orange. We'll see how they do.

If your lack of Edelstein Mandarin was a purchasing oversight, and not intentional, send me a PM, and we can figure out how I can send you my bottle. I bought it six months ago and used it once; I haven't since. Another Pelikan ink pet-peeve: no good saturated orange. My current orange is Diamine Pumpkin. I like orange, but only if it is dense and legible. Mandarin is not for me: I find it hard to read on the bright white papers I like to use (it does have lovely shading though, if you are into those kinds of things).

I bought Ancient Copper because I do a lot of work in the copper industry, and when I write with a broad nib, the ink does have some of that brown/red shading that one sees in patinated (with oxygen) copper. In a finer nib, I sometimes have difficulty differentiating it from 4001 Brilliant Brown. Ancient Copper seems to have, in general, a distinct red tone compared Brilliant Brown, but it is not always obvious, at least to me. I find it an OK ink, but not my favorite (in brown, that honor goes to Iroshizuku Yama-guri).

With few exceptions, my EDC pens are generally inked with Pelikan, Pilot, or Diamine inks.

Does anyone have much experience with Pelikan 4001 Violet(t)?

Picked up my Lamy 2000 , filled with Akkerman IJzer-Galnoten, after having left it in a drawer for five weeks.

Wrote flawlessly the minute it touched the page. No hard start, no skipping. Just worked. :)

Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

I'm using vintage MB blue-black from a NOS bottle in a Toledo red Pelikan 205 with a B nib. This ink is fantastic!
