Today it's been Noodler's Eye of the Porbeagle, the LE ink for yesterday's Commonwealth Pen Show.

No chance to take pix of a writing sample (I've been on the road most of the day) but I'd say it looks very similar to Akkerman Dutch Masters Ceruleum Blauw on the cheap Piccadilly sketchbook paper I use for trying out inks.

It's hard to classify the ink otherwise -- against to more blue inks it looks teal, but against teal blue inks it looks more blue-black....

Ruth, I was curious about the backstory on Nathan’s choice of Eye of the Porbeagle as the name for the ink. Looking on his website, I found the Show Video, and he explains it ( in his usual circuitous/ extemporaneous way) in the first 20 mins of the YT video, with demonstrations of the ink. As a bonus, you are regaled with a Nathan fishing story (really his own version of a Nantucket sleighride) and an explanation as to why he is unlikely to do that again. For anyone interested, I’ve attached the link. Enjoy!

Thanks. I have been running around like a chicken without a head since the show and haven't had a chance to watch the long version yet -- only the short 7 minute version where he shows the hook that the shark did a number on....

I hope to finish a fill of Birmingham Allegheny River Twilight, continue using Rohrer & Klingner Aubergine, and ink up a pen with my favorite ink, Sailor Kobe Suma Purple.

So far today it's been slightly diluted/reconstituted Herbin Rose Cyclamen, in one of my Parker 61s, and Noodler's Eye of the Porbeagle LE (the show ink for the 2019 Commonwealth Pen S(how) in the 1980s era Pelikano. But at some point, Pelikan Star Ruby will be added to the list, since I need to finish my first review for myself of the ink (so far I like the color, but am having feathering and some bleedthrough on the bad paper in the Piccadilly sketchbooks I use for testing inks).

I decided to ink my red pen at work with Pelikan's Ruby Star that I received at the Hub. Boy howdy do I do I like it. It was a totally irresponsible decision as I am required to use an indelible ink and I have no idea if this is but I dont know if I can use anything else. I dont often do red lines but today it was glorious!

I used Kon-peki for the first time. It's certainly a nice color and I can see why people like it.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I admire the format of your ink log.

Smiles at my writing desk upon seeing it.

Thank you!
