To celebrate finally tracking down another of the Pelikan M620 CIties and Places series, Ive been inking up the eleven I have so far and using a different one everyday. (Just the Place de la Concorde to go!) Fortunately, I also promised myself Id use up the ink samples I havent really tested yet.

So far, its been:

Pilot Iroshizuku Tsu-Kushi (Horse Tail) in my Pelikan M620 Grand Place (2006) with a stock Fine nib. A nice change as neither the nib assembly or the piston screw pice is black. (Only the New York, Place de la Concorde, and this pen vary from the standard black in this series.)

Pilot Irushizuku Shin-Ryoku (Deep Green) in my Pelikan M620 Athens (2004) with a stock Medium nib. A pretty ink, but it looked a lot bluer in the sample vial.

I bought them both from John Mottishaws excellent shop, so they are perfectly adjusted. I cant tell if the ink is really exceptional or if its the pen. The combinations are just silky smooth and the flow is effortlessly perfect. Im getting pretty spoiled.

Both are on a Docket Diamond letter sized pad that has gone a bit yellow with age.

Today it's been Iroshizuku Yama-guri in the Sailor Pro Gear Slim Purple Cosmos, zoom nib, and Iroshizuku Take-sumi in the grey Pilot Decimo, F nib.

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Pilot Iroshizuku Yama - Guri (Wild Chestnut) for me, too. It's in my Pelikan M620 Piazza Novona (2005) with a stock medium 18kt nib on cream paper in a Discontinued Graphic Image Quill Black Bonded Leather Journal from Barnes and Noble.

Waterman Havana in my Pelikan M620 San Francisco (2002) with a tone tone 18kt stock OB Nib Mottishawed into a Stub on aging Docket Diamond Paper. I don't know if they discontinued this ink or renamed it Absolute Brown, but it's a perpetually well behaved favorite.

This one is tough to get a photo of. Either there's too little light and it just looks transparent brown, or too much and the pattern looks less like glowing smoke and more like glued glitter.

This is also my most recent acquisition. After 15 years of looking I finally snagged a San Francisco. No original box or papers, but the stub nib is worth it! Weirdly, two more just came on the market. When it rains, it pours. Also, the most I've ever paid for a pen. Hopefully, I won't break that record anytime soon.

Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu - Gaki in my Pelikan M620 Shanghai (2004) with a 14kt extra fine yellow gold Mottishawed Spensarian on Yellowing Docket Diamond Paper. I was hoping for more shading in this ink, but this sample looks pretty monotone here. I think Noodler's Apache Sunset on good white paper is much more impressive. I'm not sure why I even own any other orange ink.

I love this nib, which I actually bought with my Grand Place. I really like how easy it easy to swap nib assemblies on the Pelikan Souveräns. This Spensarian is a delicate nib, but really a pleasure to write with. Plus, it never has the flow problems of my modified Namiki Falcons.

This ink hasn't feathered or railroaded on good paper, but this old pad isn't great.

On the other hand the Shanghai is a really pretty pen. It's a red and yellow version of the gorgeous Athens.

@DilettanteG I’ve seen a Pelikan Place de la Concorde. A pen club friend tracked one down recently. It is a beautiful pen. I hope you find one too.

I bought a rose gold Tul Elements notebook at Office Depot today. I got my Lamy LX to compare the colors. It was waiting to be cleaned, so I filled it with the ink it had before: J Herbin Rouille de Ancre.

Thanks!

Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-Same (Autumn Shower) in my Pelikan M620 Chicago (2003), stock medium two tone 18kt nib on yellowing Docket Diamond Paper.

Slightly reluctant (Like a fraction of a second) to start after a break, but otherwise a lovely pen. Is it the ink, the pen, or does it just need lubricating?

Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-Ro (Dew on Pine Tree) in my Pelikan M620 Berlin (2001), stock fine two tone 18kt nib on yellowing Docket Diamond Paper. I'm not sure, but this may have been the first pen released in this collection.

A smooth buttery nib, but I honestly am not seeing a big difference between a fine and a medium in this series of pictures. Plus, getting the pen and ink colors right is a lot trickier than I would have thought. Maybe I should have polished it first? As the only true green pen in the Cities and Places collection, I quite like this one!

Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-Yo (Moonlight) in my Pelikan M620 Stockholm (2001), Broad Cursive Italic from a two tone 18kt stock Broad nib on yellowing Docket Diamond Paper. I'm blanking on who did the modification on this nib. They did a good job though and it's a pleasure to write with. I like this sort of blue black ink as well. All of these Iroshizuku inks seem well behaved. I don't think it differs enough from all my other blue blacks to pop for a whole bottle.

Noodler's American Eel Rattler Red in my Pelikan M620 Madrid (2002) with an Italifine Nib from a 14kt Two Tone Broad Nib. I'm pretty sure this nib was modified by Richard Binder. Is there any one else who did the Italifine? I have a Decimo from him with this same nib grind. It's a really nice versatile little pen. I really like these lubricating American Eel inks as well. Very wet and very smooth performance. I wish it came in even more colors.

Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun (Old Man Winter) in my Pelikan M620 New York (2003),with a Medium, stock two tone 18kt nib on yellowing Docket Diamond Paper.

I've seen another poster refer to this as the "Cow Pen." I can see that. This is another super smooth stock medium with excellent flow and, like all the M6XX series, it has a a decent reservoir. It's a great size for my hand, too. No real ink window on this opaque version, which may be why I don't think I've used it all that much.

This ink is nice, but I already have way more grey inks than I will ever use. I'm really grateful for the person who gave me these samples. I think it's saved me a lot of money on inks that are probably a bit redundant to what I've already squirreled away.

Noodler's American Eel Blue in my Pelikan M620 Piccadilly Circus (2006) with a stock Fine 18kt two tone nib. Another silky smooth, free flowing nib with another one of my favorite inks. Only down side: No ink window. Plus this pen cries out for purple ink!

Thanks folks for letting me flood this thread tonight. I've been trying to sort out if I want to buy any of the Pilot Iroshizuku inks I've been sampling and it looks like they're not bringing anything new to the 200 bottle strong party I've already got going.

I'm also trying to decide if I want to go ahead and finish off my Cities and Places M620 collection with the final M620 I'm missing, or hold off on that pen. It looks like I could use a stock broad to complete my collection or maybe go for a more exotic modified nib. This ones going to need some more soul searching. Well, wallet searching anyway.

I still don't have an architect nib. Would that even work on a M6XX?
