... Have you tried Diamine Poppy for the red you seek..! Or indeed Wild Strawberry....

Neat that you say that... Those 2 are my 2 favourite reds of all time. (Skrip's Red is okay.) Sorry, I should have said this first... thanks for a wonderful review of a wonderful red!

Hi Fred, thank you for your kind comments - I am glad you adore the reds as much! They are quite exquisite!

Hello! I am sorry you're not having much luck with the reds. I have quite a few and the nearest I have come to my poppy is Diamine's Poppy..! It is rich and fabulous.

Maybe your turn for a review NotBob?!

Hmm...

I've seen other FPN reviews of D. Poppy and it looks a bit orangey, so I may pass on it.

I finally tried the MB:AH. A very dark red. If it's blood red, it's clotted blood. On a paper towel it definitely crosses the line into purple. D. Matador is a brighter red. And even brighter is Pilot red, the red I got with my PPPs. I don't know if that's the red you get in their Pilot bottled inks, but I suspect it is. That's the closest I've seen to your poppy avatar, so far.

I jes got a sample of Noodler's red and rattler red, so I see a red ink-off in the near future. Right now I'm waiting for my new tilt-top crafts/writing table so I can get some good writing done and take some good photos. I also want to get some dip nibs to try with these reds, as I don't want to be filling up and then emptying and cleaning half a dozen FPs.

You FP ppl have totally whacked out my life! I like it. :)

Wow that sounds exciting. Yes I really would agree about dip nibs, mine have allowed me to do fast ink reviews without the ritual flushing of pens which is lovely. My goodness you are building up a collection of inks. Have you considered mixing your own to find the grail red you seek? Remember the picture is backlit by the sun... so it may be a little difficult to get that exact red. The thought of MBAH being like clotted blood make me feel ill - and I am heartily into Patricia Cornwell's Dr Scarpetta novels!!

Ruby is quite a lovely colour, the only problem I have with it is that it is a touch too bright for writing significant amounts and some nib creep. It's my favourite red so far though!

Hi, I agree, a stunning colour! Have you tried it in a broad(er) nib at all. I have found that allows for some great shading and more ink to be laid down thus rending it slightly darker and not so bright for long writing sessions.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
