Contest! Fp "inspiration"

Thanks, mag. Generally speaking, inspiration, as we understand it now (as opposed to its earliest meaning), is fairly ephemeral, transitory , and fugitive: it soon wears off . . . we soon return to our ofttimes boring and quotidian lives wondering what it's all about; asking ourselves who we are, how we are related, and what is the good. But it is up to each one of us to search for the deeper levels of connection . . . to ourselves and to our world.

Let us take up our pens each day to do just that!

Wishing you the richest experience life can offer,

rvisser

I've always wanted a TWSBI and a flex pen at that, so the TWSBI with the Pendleton point seems to call out to me;

I was going to choose the TWSBI but have decided to relinquish my position (No.3) in favor of czanguine. I will happily accept whatever is unclaimed at the end.

Congratulations czanguine - enjoy your TWSBI

Ditto Salman, but I'm perfectly happy with the little Kaweco Sport, thanks! I don't seem to have much luck with either vintage pens or Sheaffers (my apologies to the fine person at Bertram's Inkwell who donated it; I'm just scarred by previous experience). I wish I did have some affinity for vintage pens because that Italian-made 1958 looks intriguing, but hey, it's all good.

You know, this is all such a blessing to me. Maybe I'm at a point in life where I'm just easily pleased, but I'm so thrilled with everything else that the original motivator - a free pen! woot! - is just over the top. I can't help but be so grateful for all of it, and as the TWSBI wouldn't have reached me anyway I'm just as pleased as I can be. Not only that, but Goulet's has the B and BB Kaweco Sport nib units on closeout for $5.99 each - can't beat that with a horsewhip. :D Three pens in one!

So many blessings to Salman in his gentlemanly and gracious generosity, to Czanguine in her youthful and exuberant, enthusiastic joy, and not least to PB who is indeed good and quite the gentleman in his own right. Thank you!!!

P.S. PB, I may not have enough fingers and toes for this complex level of math... but doesn't your OWN generosity with the extra TWSBI mean that you have enough room on the list for the eighth winner?

I hope I haven't opened Pandora's box here, but that's how the math looks to me. :roflmho:

Pendleton, you are an amazing person.

I am deeply touched by your generosity - you have made this prize even more special. I am certainly lucky to have crossed paths with you - even if only electronically :-)

Daisy - many thanks for your kind comment, it is much appreciated.

Oh dear, now I have absolutely no idea what to say! I am thrilled but at the same time embarrassed, I'll have to admit  Pendleton you shouldn't have bothered to dispose another TWSBI, I wouldn't have minded picking another prize had I only been online during these times! It was Salman's right all along. However, as what's done is done, I feel more than touched by such an amazing person's benevolent gesture and Salman, unlimited thanks! If there's ever something I could do for you (and Pendleton too), please do state right away, as I hope to pay you back for at least a fraction of your kindness. :)

Sorry I haven't been around to congratulate the winners the past few days. Hurricane Sandy didn't take my electricity but it did take my internet connection. Considering what some in my state are facing after the storm, I consider myself very lucky.

Congratulations to all the winners! I'm honored to be counted among them. There were some amazing entries and it was fun to watch them come in over the course of the month. Thanks to everyone who participated as I'm sure your entries inspired the next poster, or for that matter, anyone following the contest. Thanks also to Pendleton for hosting this contest, the judges for their (hard) work picking the winners, and the prize donors for their generosity.

If I'm not mistaken, so far we have:

  1. Rvisser with the Rosetta
  2. inky_artist with the Eversharp
  3. SMK ceded his choice to Czanguine and his generosity was matched by Pendleton and will receive a TWSBI
  4. Daisey with the Kaweco
  5. Czanguine with the TWSBI

and nightwing received the prize package

I guess that means it's my turn. The 1958 Ultra looks interesting so I will go with that. Thanks Chi-Town Mike! That leaves only the Sheaffer. I'm not sure who it will be going to but I'm sure it will have a good home with any of you.

Congratulations, Palansil! :D

You know, that's a good question about who gets the Sheaffer -- Strang's goodie box was presented as kind of a separate prize from the rest of the pool, so either Nightwing gets the Sheaffer as the last on the regular list, or PB posts an eighth winner...

The only thing I know for certain is that it ain't mine. :D

But I think it is so cool that so many different people put these lovely prizes in the pot at their own expense, just for the love of the game and the joy of the sport, so to speak. That was half the fun, nail-bitin' til my turn came around! :roflmho:

Anyway, I think PB probably has an answer on this... and congratulations to all of us who participated, judges, donors, artists and spectators alike!

Right you are Daisy ~ The 8th in the point factor was Dpricht! clap1.gif

Sorry I have been out of the loop here for a few days as the monthly US pen shows usually require at least 5-6 days to cover from preparation to execution to recovery. But I am back from OH and recovering in AH-H! Had a great time at the OH Show meeting a good batch of some of my favorite pen peeps ( the FPNers!).

I regret that I forgot to pick up the prize Sheaffer from Bertram, and resolve to notify him post haste to ship it directly to Winner Dave!

Thanks again to all of you for the inspiration you have all seeded in the hearts of many.

Have a blessed season of holiday bliss!

Have been playing with my new Eversharp (from the Eisenhower era) for the past few days and wanted to share a few thoughts. (I don't think it shows in the blog article, but my feet haven't touched the ground yet. :cloud9: )
