OK, I've re-organized my ink and shelves -- I used to have all my ink crammed on one shelf, but this thread inspired me to dedicate one section of a wall to pens etc:

... how does the ping pong paddle relate to pens? >.>

(I do love the setup and I am very jealous.)

Thanks! I worked all weekend on it (the shelf system was there but I had to cut more shelves and remove clutter)

WOW I love this!

You got me - there are a few shelves there that don't relate to pens - The things on that shelf belonged to my Dad, they extend to a few things of his on the next wall. Just makes me happy having them nearby.

That's an excellent thing to keep nearby, though!

Do you have a method to the ink shelves?

Ohhhh, I know that feeling. I'm a fellow fibro-sufferer. Insomnia, how we lovehate thee.

Oh, sorry to hear that. I must say that my pain levels are much lower in NV than they ever were in NC. How is SC?

I do have a method for the shelves -- Bottom shelf are Oranges, Reds, Purples, 2nd shelf are Greens and Pinks (my 7 year old daughter wants every pink there is so I may end up dedicating a shelf to ping). 3rd shelf are Browns, Greys, and Blacks, 4th shelf are Light Blues, Bright Blues, and Dark Blues. Off to the left I have the Organics Studios collection that I keep together because the bottles out of the box aren't interesting and they make more sense as a group (periodic table etc.)

I don't want to end up a hoarder (too late!) but I did arrange it so I have room for 7 more ink shelves if need be --I can move the pens to the next wall and paper etc. can either go to the bottom or can go to another wall as well.

I lived in Maryland and Ohio before here, so it's muuuuch better than those places (cold, wet winters- eugh). This winter was pretty rough... especially since I started it with gallbladder removal and mono (seriously- almost 30 and I get mono?!). But it's warm and hot now- I've felt sooo much better. I sit in the garden sometimes and just let it infuse and soothe my muscles.

So, I found you can get a lot more on those shelves - NEATLY - with the little step organizers. Though I use TWSBI boxes.

  • 6 months later...

I broke down and reorganized the cabinet. (I'd acquired a few new inks and needed to make room).

Here is December of 2012

And this cabinet (I added a second one) as of today.

I don't, my inks are in a drawer!

Could sunlight have an effect on the quality of ink, over the course of years and years?

Best regards, Tim

Nope, I tested it in the window for over a year. The inks that are going to disintegrate do so independent of light or heat. Once they are on the paper, they will fade (mostly).

Thanks, I was just wondering.

Totally legit question!

The other topic - mold - if you get mold in one ink - check the ink - if you get mold in several inks - check the building for mold because something is up and you are breathing it in.
