How Do You Display Your Inks?

I've debated about keeping inks in a drawer to keep them away from light but I like looking at them and having them handy when I'm at my desk. I keep the blinds closed if I'm not around but the rest of the time I can play with or just look at them. There's even a lazy susan for the Diamine 150th anniversary inks.

Penlust, I've put bottles in direct sun, none have faded, though anecdotally, I've heard that Momiji will fade even in the box. I've now expanded in to two cabinets.

Here is the second cabinet around Thanksgiving, it now has more ink.

The table next to the cabinet has ink... oh and here is the sample drawer.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have a drawer of inks and all my fountain pen stuff. I also have a rack of ink sample vials I store next to my drawer as it can't fit inside.

I've got a new space, and finally can display inks. I'll get a picture soonish. I do need a way to handle samples. I'll probably need another rack and vials... soon.

My new space is on some built-in shelves next to the fireplace in the master bedroom. The shelves are lighted from above, and glass so lots of light gets to them. Right now it all fits on one shelf, but that may change relatively soon. Duplicates live elsewhere.

I have some bookcases with glass doors coming which may work better. Won't know till they get built. Today, it's these shelves. I like how they look, and I'm glad to have them all accessible again.

I probably have all the colors I'll ever need - Iroshizuku is good for that - but I bet more come...

Whoa, that's a nice collection.

I only have few ink bottles, so I just keep them near my pens on my desk.

Don't worry William, I am sure your collection will grow. When you have more time to ink-speriment, I'm ready to share a color or two.

I no longer display my inks. Back when I owned my own business my office had a very large one way glass window that my desk sat underneath, the bottom of the window sill was just above the top of the desk and I had my inks lined up on the window sill. Now they are stored in a plastic Ikea bin.

I have inks in jars just like that. Good job, this looks terrific! Keep it small, you are heading off to college.

Easier said than done! Mason jars make amazing ink holders, and are found in abundance done in Alabama... Also after my Kaweco ink giveaway is over all of those bottles will be gone, so more room!

I'm very jealous if your storage and your collection. I will try, slowly, to keep up. Here is most of my collection and my way to keep track of my samples. Note the lovely lazy susan for the Diamine inks. I love that!

I LOVE the way you have that set up. I wish I had a desk that would allow for me to have a little shelf like that on it. The 150th anniversary set looks good too on that wood thingy.

I have a medium sized set of drawers on desk where I put different brands in different drawers. But I would probably buy a closet as the collection is getting larger.
