Surfactants In Ink For Improved Flow...

You have given me new hope that my purchase of Photoflo was not in vain. It WOULD sort of be nice not to have my ink froth and foam quite so much...

Hi,

Froth and foam is usually a result of excessive hula dancing.

So perhaps you can adopt yet another NY resolution: Don't hula with ink vials.

Though to homogenise some members of Noodler's bulletproof family, hula is not enough - I lash the bottle to a retriever and we play fetch for an hour :)

Bye,

S1

The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.

Is there anyone in the UK or Europe who would like to share with me or sell small amount of wetting agent? Buying 500 ml of this stuff doesn't seem justifiable to me...

fwiw, if you search Ebay for "Ilfotol" (Ilford's version of Photoflo) you can find a seller offering small amounts, sold to make vinyl record cleaning solution. Naturally it works out rather more expensive per ml. but it does avoid the seventy-seven-lifetime's worth of surfactant problem!

It is amazing how one can take a very dry, scratchy ink like say, Cross Black, and make it wet and smooth just by adding some extra surfactant.

Gosh, i've never found Cross black ink, or Pelikan brilliant black, to be dry or scratchy. Good flow in all my pens. I guess we all live in different worlds, or use different pens.
