I test-wrote one of these pens at the Tilburg Pen Show yesterday.

The pen wrote well, but still was a great disappointment to me. The nib is extremely stiff, no springiness at all. It is absolutely no comparison to Visconti's current Pd-nibs, nor their 14- or 18K gold nibs. However I was told by the Dutch agent for Visconti that the goal had been to create a fountain pen with a ballpoint-like feel and writing experience, probably to attract ballpoint writers to fountain pens. If that was indeed the goal they succeeded brilliantly, but for me that is no reason to buy this pen.

I doubt it. I haven't seen one in person so I can't be sure, but I suspect that the mostquito seals against the short fully tubular part of the nib and thus wouldn't work with other (i.e. not SmartTouch) nibs.

You're absolutely right. It was specifically designed to work with the new nib.

Whether the Smartouch is economical depends on their future offerings, but otherwise you've got it.

Saw this pen yesterday at the tilburg pen show. I tried it and it writes like a 50 cents rollerball. Nothing wrong with cheap rollerballs but i don't see the point in spending a lot of money on an FP that writes like a rollerball. I want an FP experience. I don't like the filling system either. Plungers never gave me anything but trouble and the needle thing to fill it seems weird. More a gimmick than a serious FP.

That nail-like quality would be something that would really appeal to me. The only thing is that I am not a big fan of the design of the pen itself.

I don't see any reason why the pen wouldn't fill without the mosquito.

I do not see the reason for this new nib and attachment, Would a traveling inkpot does the same functionality? That nib design is not working for me as well.

also, a few ink bottles can can get most of the ink on any pen.

 

would it be nice to just make an attachment that works on most visconti nibs to get the last ink from a bottle?

So what's the deal? Why are there no XF or XXF nibs? It seems as though manufacturers are getting away from the nibs many of us use on a regular basis?

It's larger than Opera, and smaller than Opera Master.

 

F and Stub nib are not available at the moment. They will in approx two months (and, maybe, also EF), due to a mistake in finishing.

Now only M and B are ready.
