Small Notebook With Rings For Use With Hole Punched Paper?

Hello All,

Years ago I saw a small notebook with small rings, think like a regular binder but tiny rings, that was about pocketable. Almost like a small filofax but very thin.

Has anyone seen something like that recently? I work on several different projects at the same time at work and would like a small notebook that I could keep seperate sheets for different projects and then file those sheets into project archive folders later. Of course, that's the idea whether I'll be consistent is a different story.

Can you draw it?

The only thing I can picture is a Rollabind/Circa type thing or a stack of paper with individual Book Rings/Binder Rings.

The one that I saw looked exactly like a filofax but with really small rings and a soft cover. If I remember correctly it came with refills too.

The rings where the metal ones that you see on regular binders, just that they were really small as was the notebook overall.

Describing it this way, seems like the filofax/planner places might be a good place to start.

ONly if we know what you're talking about refering to brands and specific niches.

Just google 6-ring binders. You'll come up with thousands of useless links but a few will get you exactly what you are seeking. You will buy these based on the ring diameter but also on the vertical size. You cans find binders in aluminum, wood, vinyl, leather, chipboard, exotic metals and you cna even buy the ring mechanisms separately.

There are two popular sizes in the States, the smaller has evenly spaced rings, the taller has a span bewtween two groups of three rings. All of the major planner systems sell the taller format; DayTimer, Franklin-Covey, Meade, DayRunner... check them all out.

The smaller device is a bit harder to find these days. Used to be able to get them at any staioners but who has a stationery store in your city?

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

You need to define 'small notebook'. 3x5 inches? 4x6 inches? You used to be able to find some small cheap ring notebooks at the drugstores in their stationery section, with rings about 1/2in in diameter, something under 4x6 inches.

Thanks for all the replies.

I think that it was similar to this. Though I remember it having a soft cover.

Oh well maybe it'll go down as something I thought I saw.

Try here

Their "Pocket" and "Compact" are the sizes you're looking for

How small is small and how soft is soft?

That Mead vinyl looks like it's 3.75x6.75" paper, what Filofax calls personal. And a vinyl cover just has thin cardboard. You can get that at any size of office supply store. If you want it really soft, cut out the cardboard.

Filofaxes with the smallest rings are called slimline and sometimes compact. There seem to be more of them in the regular sized pages. The so-called pocket sized binders, with 80x120mm paper (nearly 3.25x4.75", wider and shorter than 3x5", such that it has 2:3 proportions), don't come in as many tiny ring models.

Just an idea but if you bought a small Hilroy binder that is 4.5 X 7, get a piece of leather and fasten the rings onto the leather. Over time it will get softer and get all those wear marks on them that we all love.

Cross Autocross agendas are available with 6 ring looseleaf formats. You can toss the old agenda and repace the paper with 6 ring looseleaf filler paper available at Amazon. Cross might still have a few left and they are usually available on ebay. The agenda is a bit too large to carry in your pocket. good luck, vinper
