I believe so, I know for certain that some of the inks have been revisited. Yours looks much chalkier than what I experienced with this ink. I wonder to what extent pen/ paper combinations may have played a part!

 

Update: I have been informed by Phil @ Diamine the Jet Black and Blue Black were indeed reformulated in June 2012. The new bottles are labled R2!

the diamine Bl-Blk i have (3-4 yrs old) looks like bhavna's, nothing like captain's---thick, saturated--very little, if any, shading---also takes a long time to dry on clairefontaine 90g--i'm not using it very much lately, it's a little too wet for most of my pens

Thanks for the great hand written review! I have this ink on my "must try" list.

 

With the Diamine blue inks that i have, I find that I don't get much color variation between my various pens and nibs. I do find that a change in paper will certainly cause some variation, but not much as these Diamine inks are really saturated .

Hi Beatnik, thank you! I find similar with my blues, but I have found that a broader and sometimes finer nibs do enable shading/ sheen characteristics. I suppose that is the joy of being able to play experiment with inks... and pens... and paper... !

Ahh, that looks good because yours is more in line with mine. Mine is yes chalky but even greener. Let's say it (my version) is about 2-3 years old.

I've just got a bottle of the revised 'R2' and WOW - what a difference! R2 is on a label inside the bottom of the box, by the way. Comparison scans and more, in a separate review to follow over the week-end.

I am very impressed with this new ink - looks great in my all-black 805 too.

Rats! This looks like another one that I will want to try for myself (just when I thought I had enough ink).

 

The Good Captain's sample looks very much like my Parker Quink Blue Black in tone.

Me too, and would it be asking too much if the manufacturer labelled such goodies as "Version 1.3.5" etc. Or at least a date, even a year, I mean, wines do that all the time.

That would be a great idea, especially for those who have preference for the older versions of reformulated inks. Also I suppose that would be a great practice to achieve something like a BSI mark etc. But I detract!
