Ha, ha, ha.....I can see where it can give you that laugh!

I made that same mistake with the result of laughing at myself once I figured out the problem.

That is a nice looking set of pens, sir!

So, Mike, do you also do the nib grinding / tweaking?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Oooh.... Since more than one of you had the pen in rotation, I went looking for the Stipula. Found that the Limited Edition (pink) made for Bertram's Inkwell (only 200 made) was for sale on eBay for $46 including shipping!!! Hooray!

Wow, that Conklin nib lays down the ink -- I love it.

Here is the list of pens that I have currently inked, with a photo below showing the pens in the same order.

Well, sometimes it happens. I had one inked, but it had a nice broad italic nib and it ran dry faster than the other pens inked at the same time. Then I had this new Safari, a new Prelude, a new Parker 25 and especially a new Visconti that all just had to be inked and tried out. So the Targas are all resting until one of these goes dry and a Targa can get back into rotation. It shouldn't be too long, the nib from my Dad's Targa just came home from a trip to Ron Zorn to get fixed so that it won't leak anymore, as did the nib from my Targa Pallisandre de Rio. I'm eager to try out both now that they've been fixed.

You do know, though, that as nice as Targas are they are not the only pens in the world. Certainly I always come back to them, but I do enjoy trying out a wide variety of other pens too. :)

Today I used these two pens; a Parker 45, Green body, M nib, with a converter fill of Sheaffer Skrip Brown and a Sheaffer Snorkel Clipper, Green body, F4 nib, with P.W. Akkerman #27 Bezuidenwoudgroen (if I remember the spelling right).

Neither one is a Targa, alas.

That is a cool pen, and even cooler that it is still writing well. I do not aspire to flexy type writing, but it is enjoyable to see it from others.

Do you think the pen is pre or post 1900? Did anyone still make such a feed style even by the nineteen-teens?

This pen has an over/under feed without channels, I doubt it was made after 1900 and this style of pen was old fashioned by the teens. I'm sure this sat in a box somewhere for a very long time. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Nice vintage pens can be found with firm nibs, even rigid ones. Parker made a lot of firm nibs and so did Sheaffer, Wahl and Waterman made a lot of flex nibs but they made firm and Manifold nibs too.
