Diamine Sargasso Sea

For me, the colour is absolutely okay, if not great. The feathering (on my el cheapo papers) is at least halfway acceptable. But I find that it writes too dry and has too little lubrication. If it would only have those qualities/properties of D's Bilberry and/or Eclipse, that would have convinced me more.

I take my coffee black.

The swab comparison's of the saragaso sea and baystate blue look so closely alike in the scan. In real life are they that closely matched? Your hand written piece makes the ink appear almost blue/black on my monitor. That could have prompted me to it, but the swabs make think it would be a good substitue for the BSB.

I'll pass on the coffee but a nice cup of tea will do me!

The Diamine family has been one of my favorite inks overall.

I plan to photograph instead of scan this swab page. The colors look much truer.

No, I don't think it will, the Sargaso Sea seems much darker to me. I'm using it in a Kaweko Sport B. It is well behaved and dries quickly, even though this is a wet pen, I'm seeing very dark blue, red sheen and virtually no shading. It also doesn't have the "glow in the dark", or "burn your retina" look of BSB

Great color though!

As promised, here is a photographed version of the ink scan performed earlier. It gives a much better representation of the ink color and saturation, as compared to other inks. Much to my surprise, R & K Salix appears very gray and unsaturated, just like on the original paper. However, it is very pleasant to write with, producing a very rich blue color.

I have been using Sargasso Sea in my Namiki Falcon for a month now.I have an SF nib.The ink looks navy blue, which I like.It does not exhibit the slightest teace of bleeding or feathering ,even on cheap Staples copy paper.Maybe because my nib is fine. But to my mind it is a beautful well behaved ink.You can get a 30 ml bottle directly from Diamine for $3.shipping is only $7,Why not get a few different colours at these prices?

Beautiful ink and terrific review! Your penmanship is making me Emerald City Green with envy. I'll definitely sample it and give it a try. My "Go To Blue", so far, is Noodler's Elysium blue -- but the quest continues and I'm relieved to know I'm not the only soul searching for the elusive.
