Broad-Stub 149 Question

...

Back vaguely on topic, I have an OBB 149 incoming and want to see how much difference there is between that and the O3B I got from another poster. :hmm1: From the pictures, I suspect not much.

...

I'm really looking forward for some comparison pictures (nibs and writing samples).

... any chance of a photo with some writing samples of each nib?

If its ok with you, I'll show some pictures one at a time as I'm too busy at work to ink all the MBs at once. I didn't have time to set up a decent photo, and I've had way too much coffee for a clear nib shot, but here are a couple photos of the 234 1/2G. I'm hoping Truman might be able to supply a writing sample of some modern B nibs, as I don't have any at the moment.

Enricof, I too would love to see from GP a comparison of the OBB and O3B nibs.

What beautiful handwriting! :notworthy1: I'm jealous.

I love the variation in the line. Is that a semi-flex nib, or are you using it on an angle to get the variation?

Thank you Spidy for the very nice compliment, I'm not used to hearing such things  and I think there are many others far more worthy of such compliments than I.

The nib on my 234 1/2G is indeed a semi-flex or even more. The written line on downstrokes is about .4mm without pressure and as much as 2.5mm with pressure, as can be seen on the cross-hatch above. The shape of the nib - being very stubbish - also provides line variation, so that sidestrokes are wisp-thin. The result is, in my opinion, the best of all worlds: a nib that provides line variation by both its shape and its flexibility. Now, if only I could learn to write like GClef, or Stompie, or Mauricio, or Caliken, or ... any number of other great penmen whose writing I see here. :)

Mate, you may aspire to become as good as those wonderful penmen mentioned, but I need to learn to crawl first. So I'll aspire to become as good as you.
