How Dose Your Fast Handwriting Look Like?

Hey guys, I just thought I should make a topic about fast handwriting since i did not really see one yet so here goes.

The topic pretty much sums it up, but I.ll explain a little further, you need to post a picture of your fast handwriting i.e. the speed you usually write in when your in a hurry, for instance when in an exam.

Second: you should post how long you took to write a certain sentence or paragraph.

and that's it! simple right?

Now there are 2 reasons I created this,

1: I needed to see how good everyone here is in there fast writing so that i could have a goal to reach. as my fast writing is a bit inconsistent.

2: I just wanted to see everyone's different styles in this case :P

So... start posting and have fun!, I will post my fast writing soon...

Why not specify the paragraph text so everybody is on equal footing, it would also give a good benchmark.

I think I'm not fast at all, just hurried and rushed and messy and ... well, like this:

I like to think I'm a much better writer when I slow down:

Yes, that's done with a complete different pen. Its extra-fine flexible nib forces me to be careful and use a light hand. I think it helps.

ETA: the text is an entry from the Devil's Dictionary, which is currently illustrated beautifully by plistumi.

@pmhudepo: which pen did you use for flex?

"I hope to add some measure of grace to the world. . . . Whether I win or lose does not matter, only that I follow the quest."

Looking for a Sheaffer Sovereign II Gray Pearl with an EF nib.

I used a Montblanc 244G extra-fine from the (late) 50s. It is, I suspect, not all that flexible when compared to "wet noodles," but it's the flexiest pen I own.

Sorry for the late reply, I was busy

And yes indeed it would be a lot better supply a paragraph text don't know why i didn't think about that lol.

But here you go: "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog"

You could pick your own but try to keep it in this range. and if you want to pick your own then post a picture of this and yours.

Have fun!

Not sure how to time myself writing 9 words lol... Choose a bible verse or something that takes a few minutes.

That's why I picked a slightly longer text as well! (But I wouldn't want to compare the Devil's Dictionary to the Bible, it's just that DD is a current topic of penmanship and illustration in a different thread on this site.)

Alternatively, you could write "The quick..." 10 times in a row and post total time, or average per line.

I just ran across a test I did a couple of years (maybe even longer) ago. The test consisted of timing my writing a sentence with known number of letters both at speed and normal pace. I wanted to see how much difference writing quickly actually makes and whether it was worth it. It turns out that writing quickly also results in my hand tiring after a page or two of writing so my bursts of speed were severely limited in duration - definitely not worth it.

Here's a page of the writing - not much to look at but since this thread is about the writing...

The interesting part was the data I collected:

I hope this is of interest to somebody.
