How Much Is My Pen Worth? What Can You Tell Me About It?

While I would agree it's a good idea to cherish a gift from a parent, let's not forget there can be many reasons for wanting to know its value. Insurance, perhaps, or just curiosity, or maybe the money is badly needed for something else. Also this pen has not been a daily writer for the past 28 years, but rather an object stored somewhere, unused.

Regardless of all that, it really is a nice pen. I have a 149 from the late 80s: it has a 14K firm, medium nib and it is a very solid, dependable writer. Bought it used on the *Bay, no emotional value except what I've built up during the past two years.

journaling / tinkering with pens / sailing / photography / software development

14C and 14K are the same thing. No? Carat = Karat?

Yes....and, well........no

14c and 14k are different nibs. 14c is slightly older and usually more springy. The Montblanc 14c nib is the nicest nib I have ever tried. I don't see anything wrong with finding out how much the pen is worth. Enjoy your pen.

Yes
