Sadly, count me out until the end of September. Due to a sporting event or two, I'll be spending lots of time at work over the summers, so the little time off that I will have must go to time with my family.

No problem. If this little adventure takes off, we'll be meeting again.

So...September it is. See you then :)

ps You're not running, swimming or other wise competing in Something soon are you? ;)

And thus, Sat 30th in the Hole has two votes (mine & the penguin's). Anyone else?

Sundays always better than Saturday, & the Coal Hole sounds okay on the basis that I have no idea what RFH is (unless it is a Hospital?)

A hospital where deranged pen fanciers are sectioned, lol. Nah, it's the Royal Festival Hall!

I'm absolutely fine with Sundays too...How say we all? Sunday?

No, just one of the many thousands who will ensure that both visitors and Londoners can enjoy the summer.

Right, show = road

Ahem....Ladeez an Gennel'men.

The inaugural booze u...meeting of a sort of club which may be a variation of a posse or a mutant formation of a sensible gathering is set for:

Sunday 1 July, assembling at The Coal Hole on The Strand at....?....er.....2 o'clock, for the purpose of mutual consolidation & sharing of our interests in but not strictly only pertaining to, fountain pens and related ephemera....and having a beer or coffee or suchlike with warm conversation, for as William Morris said:

"Fellowship Is Life"

Anyone needs directions, shoot me a PM. I'll happily sell my mobile phone number to the highest bidders on the day so no-one will be lost, wandering the streets of our fair capital with pockets awash with oblique mediums.....

Sincerely, I look forward to seeing you there. I may wear my Mickey Mouse rollerball in my top pocket so you'll know who to aim for.

Set....

See you there. I have ink to give away to those attending. Several unwise purchases mean I'm hoping to give away my mistakes.

Good stuff OP & Quill, look forward to meeting you....

A very nice idea re the inks.

I popped in the Coal Hole today just to, erm.... check the layout (that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it) - I was thinking to meet in the Edmund Kean bar downstairs, but so long as the main bar isn't crowded it's probably best we all meet up there, at least initially. I'll be carrying a black leather pen case (just look for the old git with an earring & silver rings).

If anyone is uncertain where the pub is, it's practically next door to the The Savoy, opposite Southampton St if you're coming down through Covent Garden.

Sorry you can't make it Zanshin, but yes, hopefully it will & we'll see you next time.

Wanstead?... Ah, indeed. But wait, it could also ( I'll raise your bet & see you) be Snaresbrook!

Or should we play Mornington Crescent instead? B)

Hope you all have a great time on Sunday. Sadly I can't join you as I have a previous commitment - maybe next time.

I will be there, now I have ascertained it is not a hospital venue :headsmack:

What's the agenda; bring a favourite pen? most unusual item? (I have never attended such an event)

Great! Looking forward to meeting you in person! I'll bring my solitary Summit S100 ( a plain brown little thing but writes like a dream) :)

Agenda? A good question: I've never instigated or attended such a thing either (poetry readings don't count!)

But, no agenda!

I have thought about this more as a social introduction really...if a 'club' arises out of it all well & good. ....Although to quote the inimitable Dr J, I am (usually) "a very unclubbable man"! Time enough (god forbid) for agendas then.

Penswise, I was thinking just to bring along some favourites, couple of inks and a pad...

We're all going to be from such different backgrounds, I assume, & have such diverse interests aside from fountain pens that I hope it proves an interesting & fun event for all...I'll happily rave on with anyone about my love of, say, The Doors or Phil Dick or Lovecraft or Linn stereos or What Makes a Great Bloody Mary or Durer's Melancholia or etc etc....

Moreso, I hope to learn a few things & pick up some signposts to other interests too!

David & Lin - sorry you can't be there, but see you soon :)

To err is human.

To ARRR is pirate!
