Thank you all for the compliments. Practice, practice, practice. I am slowly getting better at it. Here is today's word: BODY-SNATCHER. In trying to figure out what to draw here, I learned about the Burke and Hare murders in Scotland. The murderers used to sell their corpses for medical dissections. In fact, their technique of killing became known as "burking." Weird.

Whew! I am back. I have new words, new ink sample and new pen. Namely, BOTANY, BOTTLE-NOSED and BOUNDARY, Stipula Sepia and Pelikan M101N. Here it is:

Pelikan looks lovely - but what's happened to the lovely script ink descriptions????bawl.gif

Youstruckgold: I put them aside for now. I think I am going to bring them back because I like to see if the inks I test shade and the italic cursive with my fine to medium nibs just does not show that.

Atamantara: I have used two notebooks: the dot grid cream colored paper is from a Leuchtturm1917 and the lined white paper is a Quo Vadis Habana. Actually, I finished the Habana at the BENEDICTINES post. Today I have the honor to try out a new word with a new journal with blank white paper, a Banditapple peewee sized. I like it so far. By the way, today's word is: BOUNTY

New day, new word. The next word is BRAHMA. I am almost done with the letter "B." Four more words and we move on.

Today I a waxing poetic. It is the last day of the work week and it is the last day of the letter "B"! These words are BRANDY, BRIDE and BRUTE. Enjoy! This ink is also Stipula Sepia. It is growing on me.

Amazing work as always!

Loved the "detail" on the bottle for BRANDY. Although a little part of me was thinking the contents of the snifter should have been a different color: "The Ink that Shall Not Be Named", maybe? :roflmho:

I ran out of my samples of that ink... It may, however, become a permanent denizen of my collection in the near future. In the meantime, it is time for some browns. The next word is CAABA.

"WIT, n. The salt with which the American humorist spoils his intellectual cookery by leaving it out."

You, on the other hand, seem to have plenty of "salt" in your illustrations. Fantastic, keep 'm coming!

I have a few more words today: CALAMITY (never stand in front of a sneezing fire-breathing dragon) and CALLOUS (do not use people's new scarves may not be the best nooses).

I could not stop reading from the first post! Brilliant source! Brilliant Interpretations! notworthy1.gif

I have been edified and amused so I downloaded the Kindle version from Project Gutenberg.

Your illustrations have spoiled me.... blush.gif

Can't wait for the next installments! bunny01.gif

Thank you for sharing your exercise with the rest of us. cloud9.gif

Esterbax, I am glad you have enjoyed the posts. I, like you, have learned a lot. I find my self looking up historical references and learning new words. Ambrose Bierce definitely had a privileged mind and very sharp wit.

Here are new words: CALUMNUS, CAMMEL, CANNIBAL and CANNON. I had a lot of fun drawing the most improper of camels. Remember Joe Camel? I do. I never fell for him, though. The marshmallows were fun to draw too.
