Thank you for the info about your inspiration! As for the drawings, WOW, I love how you see the world.

I'm glad you are enjoying the ink.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Today I am using Toucan Ink sample. Thanks to Cyber6 who gave me a bunch of samples way back in the Long Island Pen Show. I am really liking it.

Today's words are LEGACY and LEONINE.

Today's entry is LETTUCE. The ink is very light (Toucan Gold) so I am including a copy of the text:

LETTUCE, n. An herb of the genus Lactuca, "Wherewith," says that pious gastronome, Hengist Pelly, "God has been pleased to reward the good and punish the wicked. For by his inner light the righteous man has discerned a manner of compounding for it a dressing to the appetency whereof a multitude of gustible condiments conspire, being reconciled and ameliorated with profusion of oil, the entire comestible making glad the heart of the godly and causing his face to shine. But the person of spiritual unworth is successfully tempted to the Adversary to eat of lettuce with destitution of oil, mustard, egg, salt and garlic, and with a rascal bath of vinegar polluted with sugar. Wherefore the person of spiritual unworth suffers an intestinal pang of strange complexity and raises the song."

Cybaea: I have many pens, I guess. More than 100 less than 150?

Today's word is LEVIATHAN. Again, here is the transcription of it as the ink is very light.

LEVIATHAN, n. An enormous aquatic animal mentioned by Job. Some suppose it to have been the whale, but that distinguished ichthyologer, Dr. Jordan, of Stanford University, maintains with considerable heat that it was a species of gigantic Tadpole (Thaddeus Polandensis) or Polliwig — Maria pseudo-hirsuta. For an exhaustive description and history of the Tadpole consult the famous monograph of Jane Potter, Thaddeus of Warsaw.

Lovely, have been catching up on your dictionary, wonderful work, very inspiring and fun to see all the pens and inks as well. Have you thought of what you might o next? Perhaps some Shakespeare illustrations, or the illustrated Seneca? Just wondering out loud.

I think this must be my favourite definition so far, because I have of late been contemplating dictionaries, their creation and their uses. Nice artwork yet again, and yet another nice pen. That brown looks similar to Caran d'Ache's Grand Canyon, a mixture between sepia and brown.

I hope, Plistumi, that you're getting as much enjoyment out of this thread as we are :)

I.M.: I, like you, have been enjoying this project. I have learned a lot with it. I feel humbled by the breadth of knowledge that Ambrose Bierce had. Playing with the inks and pens is a plus too.

Amberleadavis: Who, who?

Here are LIAR and LIBERTY. This pen is one of my favorites.
