Devil's Dictionary

TMLee: I looove your journal. It is so well made! I just put it inside a maroon Franklin-Christoph notebook cover that I just got at the DC Pen Show.

Today's word is "J" which is written with the last of my Omas Princesses in Pearl Gray. The ink is Montblanc Midnight Blue which is a grayish blue. (If anybody knows of an available Omas Princess in the Royal Blue celluloid... I might be interested. Help?)

Be sure to look at that same image in a few months. Depending on which version of ink it is an IG - if it is a sample I sent you, then it is an IG.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Amberleadavis: The ink is indeed from the bunch of ink samples you sent me. Most of the inks I have been using are. I have purchased a few of the Iroshizukus and the Stipula Musk Green which I absolutely love. What color should I expect to see once it oxidizes?

Today's words are JEALOUS and JEWS HARP. They mark the last of my Omas Princesses. Alas... wishing to find the last one. These are the cutest little pens. I am including a picture of the small crowd of princesses. The celluloids are in this order: Scarlet Red, Pearl Gray, Saft Green, Arco Green, Arco Bronze, and Senape Blue. The missing celluloid is Blue La Royale.

Yes, those are totally adorable! I don't know these pens - are they current production, or are these vintage? And seeing all the tassles together with the pens, they *must* come with them, right? If not, you've perfectly matched them, colorwise.

You must be about ready to add the Northwest annex on to your residence to hold all your fabulous pens... :)

Today's word is JESTER. This is the first of a few pens I picked up at the DC Pen Show. This is on of Ryan Krusac's creations. He does wonderful work with scrimshaw, and mother of pearl inlays. You can find him here: link.

Cybaea: The ink, is indeed beautiful. To me it looks like a tone of magenta.

Kmart_security: Glad you like the thread. I never thought a few doodles would turn into this gargantuan project. It is fun and instructuve.

Amberleadavis: I try my best. Every once in a while I draw a blank. Haha, get it?

Today's words are JOSS-STICKS and JUSTICE.

Stumbled across this thread yesterday, have no idea how but glad I did. You have reaquainted myself with the Devil's Dictionary and you artwork is out standing! You really have got to publish it.

If there are any hard to get inks from Japan, of a few I am well acquainted, that you would either samples or bottles of, let me know.

Wow -- great idea! Maybe we should go through (when Marta gets done with the whole Dictionary, of course) and vote on the overall favorite cartoons. I don't suppose, though, that we'd get the same great colors in silkscreen inks.

Yeah, the killer bunny would get my vote as one of the top ones.... Too funny.

There have been days (recent ones at that :glare:) when I felt JUST like that rabbit. :wallbash: ["Oh, Lewis -- could we possibly spend a minute or two discussing the little issue of your apparent inability to blazon your way out of a paper bag....?" (said in the sweetest tone possible, but wearing a shirt with that image on it B))....]

I'm ready to buy a tee-shirt.

I'm here in San Fran with Pli. I'll chat her up.

I might even mention the shirt. :)

(BTW: I introduced another person, who had been unaware of 'the books', to them in person today. Watching people's faces as they page through the books in person is, as they say, priceless. Pli is beyond cool. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb204/EnvoyC/emotes/bouncers.gif

Showed these pics. to a friend the other day. She's now downloaded The Devil's Dictionary, bought her first fountain pen and fallen in love with all things pen related. Inspirational stuff.
