Today's word is Hebrew. The ink matching the Pelikan Grand Place is Diamine Ancient Copper.

Oh, my, the "bitter half" and superior.

Thank you for the great doodles.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Today's word was fraught with treachery. I have had the damnedest (will this word be bleeped out?) time matching the ink to the pen. In fact, I consider it a failure. I wanted to use a blue ink so I used Iroshizuku Shin-Kai (Thank you Las Vegas Posse members for the sample ) which is kind of a greyish blue, but it is too dark. Actually, first I used that light blue ink on the left side. I aborted. The reason is on the paper. In the spirit of matching the ink to the pen, I colored in some grey with Iroshizuku Kiri-same (Thank you Ether for the sample). Enjoy HEMP!

So which ink did you abort?

Today's word is HIBERNATE, written with a Piazza Navona and Private Reserve Orange Crush. I like this pen-ink match.

That DOES look brown. Is it the camera or the ink itself? I've seen other orange crushes and they look... orange.

It's something about PR Orange Crush - it's been getting the orange crushed right out of it and becoming more amber.

Thanks again for sharing the wonderful addition to your notebook!

That is exactly it. My ink is not new (3-4 years old). It has oxidized? It has changed colors, but I like it.

Edit: You got me thinking. I pulled a couple ink tests I did. The ink has definitely changed over the years, ha, ha. The oldest is on the top (one of my first posts on FPN back in 09) the second was around one and a half years ago, and the third was today. Wow!

I do not mind the changes. But it has definitely ambered nicely. My Diamine Orange is still orange and so is the Edelstein Mandarin, so I am orangely covered for when the Shanghai comes along two pens from now.

In the meantime, enjoy the aging of ink. (I think it has been mentioned before and it is a known issue with some PR inks so do not be surprised when I use Burgundy Mist.. For the time being, I will just go with the (ink?) flow) :P

Hippogriff reminds me of Harry Potter.

And thank you for the inky comparison!

I actually went on Amazon today to find an unabridged and illustrated D's D (suddenly wanted one). No such thing exists (in recent publishing anyway). Have you considered publishing this thing? I'd certainly buy a copy. Heck, I'd even pay double of what I paid for my copy of Bierce.

I'm looking forward to the word hog.

Not full of illustrations like here, but some, and a lovely book like all Folio does. This is my edition of the Devil's Dictionary: http://www.foliosociety.com/book/DED/devil-s-dictionary

(On a related note, I should post a review of their notebooks some time....)

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

Damn it (will this be censored?), I missed out on that one. Argh.

I actually have the free version on my Kindle (and the Japanese translation as well). But I thought it might be nice to see a really grumpy man with a leather briefcase with bunch of commissions under the heading LIAR.

Gustav Flaubert actually wrote a very similar dictionary, but I haven't gotten my paws on it yet. It's on Gutenberg but it's in French, and I figured I might copy out the Japanese version because my Japanese handwriting stinks.

Could you provide a link, please? I'd like to find it for my Kindle.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks - however, this leads to the UK Amazon - I am actually a US-registered Amazon customer, and I can't get it there for free.

But, I did find a number of inexpensive versions for the Kindle and may download one. But plistumi's illustrations look so much nicer than all those on Amazon.com!
