Apparently, there is a hot pink one? A teacher in my school has one, but I have yet to see it with my own eyes.

Yeah, there is. I think I saw it for sale somewhere recently too, but I don't remember exactly where.

Question:

Did you ever recognise that there are two (at least) different red Safaris? I got an early one which is very dark red and a later one which is much brighter. Hard to catch in the picture but in reality its obviously.

That is exactly why i gave up colecting them. I was up to about 30 of them then the farther you get the more you realize theres more out there. and as i got closer to the end the ones i was missing were very expensive

not yet, but I will do soon.

nope, i don't think it's fading. Maybe it's just different plastic... but the difference is really obvious in this case.

Christof, any idea of the respective ages of these pens?

Nope, don't know when exactly Lamy switched from metal cap screws to plastic...

maybe somewhere in the 90's? I bought a red one with metal screw around 1996 and a charcoal one with a plastic screw around 2000.

I received my long waited Lamy Safari White (Japan Edition) today. They seem to have a limited production re-run and mine is in EF nib. I am especially happy to get it with a very reasonable price, 3,391 yen (excluding shipping). :D
