Lamy Safari Colours

I still have my first Safari from the early 80s, and it is black/charcoal, with the Lamy logo sunk in, but it isn't textured. This is particularly apparent now, because the inside of the lid broke up so that it wouldn't clip on nicely, and Lamy very kindly sent me a new lid (absolutely free of charge - there's service after 20 odd years), which IS textured. So it is now a bit of a mongrel, but I love it. biggrin.gif

You forgot the three Al-Star version

Lamy AL-Star cool.gif

  1. AL-Star (silver)
  2. Graphit (grayish)
  3. Silverblue (bluish)
  4. Silvergreen (greenish)
  5. "Bastian Schweinsteiger" (silver with autograph)
  6. Blue Star (blue)

And this lilac one, which I don't know the name of:

Are you sure that's lilac and not the silver blue with the photo's color off? I've never seen or hear of lilac. (Not that this means anything). Darn! I want one in lilac.

Well, Elaine, go to da Bay, make a search and order it ... laugh.gif

I don't trust the seller on this one. If it exists, I'm going to feel mighty silly for not bidding on it.

Anyone know if they do exist?

I don't know if the Lilac one actually exists, but I will note that I believe the Graphite color has a lilac-ish tint to it that does not show up in some photos. For example, the photo of it on the LamyUSA website makes it look gray, but the photo of it on the Swisher Pens website makes it look like a cross between the Lamy photo and that eBay auction photo.

I do know for sure that there is an Al-Star color that looks close to the Swisher Pens photo of the Graphite--I've seen it in person. I never knew the actual color name of it before seeing the photo, but I think it's a match for the one I'm familiar with.

The seller told me that it was indeed lilac, a "special edition" color. I guess I'll find out the truth when it arrives in my hands in a week or so......all the way from Thailand. $35 shipped. As long as it's not silver, it'll be one that I don't have, so I'll be happy.

He has one more.....

Actually, the seller has a Lamy 2000 for a good price.

Are those press bar/aerometric converters still made, and if so, where can I find one? I'm not really a fan of the red piston in my Vista Safari.

Probably a little late for an answer, but you could use the Lamy converter Z 26 which has a black piston.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but was the pen on ebay actually a lilac color?

I see one of the "Lilac" sellers say:

Please Attention:

This Lamy Al-star fountain pen is Lilac aluminum not Blue.

Please see this pen with a white light like fluorescent and you'll see the real Lilac color.

But if you see it with a yellow light, it will look like a Blue pen.

So, sounds a little fishy to me. *L*

Yep, fishy......I've got one of the "Lilac" pens, and I can't see a difference between it and a regular Blue metal overlay pen. I think that he has some sort of minor color variant and really thinks that it's different color.

I bought the same color pen, from the same seller. He insists it's lilac. I say blue. And I checked w/Lamy (cuz the thought of an actual lilac Safari was too much to resist). Lamy says it's blue. They don't have a lilac/purple/violet.

Just to update: I have seen in Sydney a new AL-Star colour, Dark Blue metallic. Don't forget about the new white and blacks with chrome clips!

I understand that green and orange lamy are the harder color to collect but if you need the orange color you can get from me at my website at:

But at US$88 each?!? That's *much* higher than what Savannah Green ones go for on eBay. Granted they're used, but still.
