Bphollin: you are missing the purple All Star

Lamy Dark Purple All Star

See top right corner of second pic.

Thanks for looking out for me, though!

Oh you are right! I thought it was the red All Star but it is the Dark Purple. :)

Lovely collection!

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

Niiiice! I'm glad I finally got my pink Safari!

Just wondering, where did you buy yours? :D

From China. I would have to dig out the paperwork to recall the seller, but Google or Yahpoo Pink Lamy Safari & you'd probably find it.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

The yellow transitional came from eBay. Regina Martini had a few up last month. I believe this was the last one she sold in the run.

The black with red is an impostor! It is just a Joy cap on the standard shiny black. Does your Taiwanese version have any special distinction, like the card that came with the red and yellow china edition or the numbered Japan model?

No Rakuten pens for me. Am I correct that they have red clips and black cap tops, unlike the NK pens that have red clips and red dots?

Yes, the Rakuten fountain pens had the black cross caps. See: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/kyotobunguya/item/safari-redclip/

As for the shiny black with red clip, Rakuten also seems to have had a run of them... See: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/kyotobunguya/item/lamysafari-red/

And, yes, the Taiwanese LE celebration pens came from a famous Taiwanese bookshop (which is the size of a department store - absolutely enormous!) called Eslite. They didn't have a card but there was a print of the poster that they were advertising the edition with.

That's a very nice Alpin you have there - I think I'm correct in saying that the collar suggests it's a first generation...

Fantastic collection! And I love the photo too - seems random at first but it's actually organised by shades of colour! Anyways, I do have some terracottas and savannas but I'm currently abroad for a year for work and my pens are all safely packed into storage. If I remember I will give you a shout when I return to the UK. I have also spotted the absence of a demonstrator (I don't mean the vista) - or have I missed it? Congratulations on such a great collection!

Superb photos! And it is indeed a first gen Alpin ;) I have one too with that grey plastic collar. I'm interested that you chose to illustrate the detail of the back of the pen cap where there is a tiny window underneath the cap end. I've never noticed that detail changes with generations. Many thanks for sharing!

Quick question - has ANYONE ever seen a terracotta with a "W Germany" stamp? All the ones I've seen are blank (like the first gen savanna). However the savanna has a second gen with the W Germany stamp. Does this mean the terracotta was discontinued before the savanna?

Is it common to have a nib with no letters on it? I purchased an OM nib that was blank on top, just wondering.

It would be odd to purchase a brand new pen with no markings on the nib. (Early production Safaris did not have markings, as seen elsewhere in this thread.)

I just bought a savanna backchannel. Thanks for the offer of the terracotta. I will keep that in mind if I don't track one down sooner.

Was the demonstrator (not Vista) a production pen, or was it a true dealer demonstrator, and thus not for wide distribution in stores? I saw one on eBay in the last few weeks, but it was priced out of my range.

Of the production pens (and variations), I believe I am only missing the Terracotta. If I include promotional pens, special editions, and other non-production pens, my list of pens to track down gets much longer! I'm lucky to already have some of the more recent promotional pens. Then, of course, I have to start thinking about the different generations of pens... boxes... other promotional materials...

Hmmm... Just looked up that eBay demonstrator you mentioned (sold very high!) and note that the seller claimed it was a dealer only demonstrator... I guess that is probably likely given that they are so rare but I am not absolutely sure. What I do know is that they definitely came in more than one generation because I have a couple marked "Germany" but have seen someone else's that is marked "W Germany". I wonder who could provide further information on the true demonstrator...?

Congrats!

How does the Savannah green differ from this year's Apple?

And it looks like you have orange in there, so would Terracotta be differernt from THAT as well?
