Lamy Safari Colours

Very interesting strand, thank you for correcting me. I see they also has the matching black nib. You wouldn't happen to have a scan or picture of a catalog where they are in with black clip, to add to my collection?

Help? Why am I buying so many fountain pens?

I am fairly new to fountain pens and a Safari was the second pen I bought. I bought it for the sole purpose of being able to change the nib bases on how the ink was writing. I started out with a pink safari with a Med nib and bought a Bnib extra. Last week I recieved my aquamarine Safari with a F mib and bought a XF nib extra. This pen and changable nibs is heaven on earth. If the ink is too watery, I just change to a finer nib.

I love when things match. Chrome clip = chrome nibs. I don't like when things don't match. I look at some of the color combinations and think, what colorblind man thought that looked good?

Anyways, I wanted to thank the person who made the list of all the Safari colors with clip color and year they were released. I plan on buying more safaries and you have just created my shopping list on what I will but or hunt for next. (Lime, Orange, and Raspberry along with the 1.1, 1.5, 1.9 and any other nibs I don't have.)

I was wondering, what was the LE for 2010? If there was one, can someone please let me know? Or if you are selling any chrome safari or chrome nibs, contact me.

Chris

2010 LE...didn't really happen. The last LE's in reverse...are..2011 Aquamarine...Orange and Pink..2009-10....until run out....getting harder to find. White and black joined the ranks of the regular issues. There is an all white Joy out there now. I do have an all original bright yellow from beginning of 2011 with...original black clip and nib....similar to the 2011 yellow issue with silver clip and nib. I have not seen a pen like it anywhere. I think it was put out to test the color...for 2011....pre reg. change from black cl+nib to all silver. Only charcoal has the black clip and nib as reg. issue. This pen color goes back to origins of the Safari line. Feeds and sections have variations...as well as the feed. BWof I...I put a 1.1 nib on my aqua-m and it has become my desk pen + Iro's ku-jaku. It's my fav nib in the Lamy line for Safari or Al-star. I sold my Al-Stars to fund a new Pel M800 italic B. I'm not into the metalic A-S's anymore...essentially the Safari's are more fun. My gf mixes and matches parts to match her daily outfits....she isn't using the Vista for obvious reasons. Earlier d/c'd issues like the French Blue/red clip, Lime,Savanah, Terracotta, Gray and early Demo are really rare now...so if u need one u'd better get moving on your quest for them.

Has there ever been a purple Safari? Purple is my favourite colour, but it seems to be the most neglected one as far as pens go. :(

Perhaps next season. However, you can not predict what Germany will do.Personally...Tangerine would be a good bet for next yr. I'd like that color. Don't get me wrong. I like purple ink. ... just not a fan of purple pens. I predicted "sea foam"...they named it aquamarine...same idea...color family....no crystal ball.

I'd love a purple one. Grape purple!

I've got several now, but I don't have the orange, which I'm regretting now. I quite like the colour now, but it looks to be at the difficult to find stage, like the lime.

Rare colors can still be gotten...at a price..Rakuten has some orange Safari's.? how many r left. In NYC there's a stationary place near NYU that might have pink or orange...just maybe. Montgomery Pens in NYC still has pink...I think. Lime Safari's are fetching over 100$+..a Thailand biz is selling one for almost 200$ on e-bay....absurd. There are orange and pink ones...starting at 50$... e-bay style. No affiliations.

I love my white Safaris (I bought two), they have a very jaunty Lord Vader's Stormtrooper look about them. biggrin.gif

You're description made me immediately want to go and check out the white - not sure if I should thank you or give you a raspberry

Aw now, a girl can dream. Some people collect teacups or spoons; I collect Lamy Safaris. There's always garage sales.

Lamy Safari--How many colors?

Well we had a Pen Posse Peter's Cafe today and Altec Green, knowing my Lamy affliction, brought up this very subject. With help from Kernando and Ethernautrix we quickly came to the conclusion that it is easier to list the 'missing' colors from the line up.

Accordingly, we have attached the list. Once the 'missing' colors are released we can cross them off.

Pen Posse-

San Francisco International Pen Show - The next “Funnest Pen Show” is on schedule for August 23-24-25, 2024.  Watch the show website for registration details.

My PM box is usually full. Just email me: my last name at the google mail address.

Colors that are not will be on the list, and when they start to be they will cease to be on the list?

I'm still waiting for maple, briar or burl, grenadilla, hard rubber of any color or pattern with or without chasing, leather wrapped, silver or any metal overlay, brushed steel, Makralon, sterling cisélé, any clear color, Torlon, celluloid, green stripes, white stars, pinstripes, chalkstripes, polka dots, and tartan (aka plaid).

While I'm at it, the Joy models should have desk bases that convert the caps into sockets, but come with Safari barrels too. Parker did it what, 80 years ago?

Oh, and Lamy could take a design cue from Pelikan and make a Vista with labeled parts. Then they could etch/sandblast in the directions, like pull cap off, push cap on, post cap, clip to pocket, unscrew barrel and section, insert Lamy cartridge, turn converter knob, rest fingers on the flats of the grip, etc.

Sometimes you just get lucky when not really looking- I picked up a couple of new orange Safaris a month or two back at normal Safari retail price from a pen dealer in my local town- sort of dealer whose normal stock is the run of the mill low-end Watermans/Parkers etc (ie not a specialist). They had the orange Safari on show alongside an Aquamarine one, and when I asked about more orange ones they also had one in the back room so I snapped both up- been after an orange Safari for a while.

No, I won't sell one of them, I bought them becasue I like the colour and want to use them!

I believe, us Lamy crazies, uh, enthusiasts should not longer encourage newbies to get our favorite because they might snatch the Limited Edition not the standard fare.

We should just say Vista, or we point out the non-LE Safari colors, which could backfire because the newbie is going to say: "Great, they make it in that cool (insert favorite LE color here), I want one!

Are we going to stoop so low as telling newbie that they are no longer in production, even if they are? ;)

The Safari is the pen who has turned my nice sedate user self into a raging collector. :ltcapd:

Can we do the same thing for the Studio?

Have a list of color they haven't done yet and silver patterns a la Parker 75, such as: ciselé, pinstripes, chalkstripes, polka dots, and tartan (aka plaid).

:)

I love the idea of a desk base for the Lamy Joy (I haven't found an excuse to buy any Lamy Joy, yet)

I also think Lamy should make Joy LE's for the grown up crowd, like us, you know the ones who write letters at their desk and don't use their Lamy to go to school.

Speaking of which, some community colleges have courses for seniors, we'll all soon swarm those classes with our Lamys, bicycles and attitudes! :)
