Aquamarine is coming in April!

https://www.artbrown.com/Lamy-Safari-Special-Editopn-Fountain-Pen-Aquamarine-P35083C1213.aspx

It is such a perfect colour for the Safari, that after one look I almost feel it has always been part of the range.

Oh, and if anyone needs an original black-nibbed grey, I see that Cult Pens have found a batch of them behind the sofa and are selling them off at less than the price of the current models (completely reputable outfit, in case you have never dealt with them).

Wow. thanks for the list

Do you know when they start changing Graphite and Silver Green's clip to chrome from black?

couple years ago or couple decades ago?

I started collecting this year and have 8 al-stars in chrome except Aluminium.

I was wondering if black cliped Graphite and Silver Green are hard to find because they are old...

For the sake of clarity, there is a Safari demonstrator that is not the same as the Vista.

The Safari demo is quite scarce, and should not be confused with the common (but nice) Vista.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

It is original, they switched over chrome clips a couple of years ago. Neither the silvergreen nor the silverblue are not in production any more.

Hi all,

what is the difference between the Safari demonstrator and the Vista?

The demo really is a transparent version of a common Safari. I.e., it lacks the metal tube visible in the Vista cap. It will also have an older version of the section compared to the Vista.

I don't think the silvergreen with black clip Al-star is original?

I checked my Lamy catalogs, and I don't see any silver-green AL-stars with black clips. As far as I know, the silver-green AL-star came fitted with a non-anodized steel nib and steel clip. However, there may have been an earlier version with a black nib and matching clip, like the plain aluminum model, but I don't remember ever seeing one.

BTW, I believe both the silver-green and silver-blue AL-stars have been discontinued.

I'm pretty sure they never existed, I've collected extensive information on Lamy (as it seems you have) from catalogs, magazine advertisements, etc.

Silvergreen and Silverblue have indeed been discontinued.

I beg to differ... I had stock of silvergreen with black clip/nib until last year.

They were for sure available (at least in Europe) until 2009.
