Gorgeous writing. You must feel very happy to have a great winning combination like that.

Thank you.

I find a CI nib really helps to keep my hand focused.

Congratulations on your pen. The nib really suits your handwriting. Thank you for sharing.

Ummm, I think I may try some of that MB Royal Blue ink.

Pavoni.

Thank you.

The MB Royal Blue has really great shading when you let it get onto the paper in a generous way.

Thanks for the review. I have been wanting to get a M nib modified to a CI and this was a good push in that direction.

Can you post a close up pic of the nib? Thank you.

Hello Pelman

Unfortunately I don't have a macro setting on my camera. I did try, but the closest I could get was about 8 or 9 inches.

Thanks for sharing.

You really have a nice handwriting!

Thank-you.

It was because my handwriting had become so poor, that I started using fp's again in the mid 1990's.

Your Collodi and Rolex look very happy together. Nice pair!

Thanks for noticing my avatar. Yes, one of my daily workhorses.

I have a poor handwriting, but when using FP's I automatically will slowdown the pace and make it at least readible for other people.

Like the way you reply in person to all the comments in your topic!

Thanks for trying. Hopefully I will post a review of my pen when I get it done.

Fantastic nib, inked, and a beautiful ink to support a neat, elegant, and secure handwriting. Congratulations. I really liked the transformation of your M nib: it has a lot of character now, a very well-done job. Which size is now the tip? 0.6, 0.7 mm?

Lovely pen with amazing nib - enhanced by your hand-writing...........and that ink!!! Like I need another MB ink - but think I do now!

Congratulations! :clap1:

Thank you Chris.

Yes, MB Royal Blue is a very classic, well behaved ink.

My two favourite blues, in the whole world, are this one, and J.H. Eclat d'Saphire.

The only draw back on the JH is the bottle.

I must add, that there are many other beautiful blues which I own and would like to get,

as I do not wish to offend the tastes and love that others my have for the blues :-)

Of course you need another MB ink!

Yes Mr. Pendelton Brown does fantastic work.

I don't have a set of calipers, but I will see if I can get you those measurements.

Thank-you Halid.

I agree on the last photo. Even though it is not overly expressive of details, it is expressive of the romance & relationship between the pen, the written word and time. That is, what vintage and nostalgia represent.

Hello fpupulin

I finally found a metric tape measure.

It's hard to believe, but it measures in at .8 to .9mm

I did mention in my review that I had spread the tines, I just didn't realize how much.

I do however, love the results. It must have been a pretty robust medium to start with.

Also, when I had sent it to Pendleton Brown, I did ask him to preserve the width as much as possible.

It looks like he was able to do that.

Many thanks for taking the time to measure the nib tip. 0.8 - 0.9 is an amazing size for a nib that was originally a M; in most of the cases they are regrind to 0.6 mm. I insist: a fantastic job, and a nib that seems very apt to your nice handwriting.

Thank-you for your comments ArchiMark.

MB Royal Blue, is such a classic and uplifting blue. Bright enough to catch your interest, but not too bright so as to keep you grounded.

The generous flow on this 149, allow this ink to show it's colour, and broadcast it's shading abilities.

The Italic nib looks like a real winner. Wish the LE's came with more nib choices.

Thank you for the comment roofchees9.

I also wish the LE's came with something a little more special.

I have the same Shaw you have pictured, in a B nib. I also sent that one off to Pendleton Brown for a little Southern treatment to a CI.

When I get a little time I will do a posting on that one as well.

Take care, and I wish you all the best with the Shaw(that is one well built and gorgeous fountain pen. Great pic by the way!).

Fantastic review, I love your handwriting, how long was the turnaround time? From leaving your hands to back on your desk?

The little things really count.

Thank you Miadhawk, I glad you enjoyed it.

I am in Canada and Mr. Pendelton Brown is in the southern USA, Cummings, Georgia. Most times it is approximately a 20 day turnaround.

I do however always make sure that he is available.

~ Montblanc Royal Blue ink never looked better than in the photos illustrating this review.

The Cursive Italic nib produces very lovely lines and curves.

This is a particularly helpful review of an out of the ordinary Montblanc 149.
