Cambridge "business" 90Gsm

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am stocking up on UK/EU paper before I move to the Far East.

Any opinions on Cambridge Business Notebooks?

Interesting - I've never seen them - where do you buy them?

I shop in nearly all the retailers listed and Staples but I've never seen them - only the standard Cambridge line.

I wonder where the Business line can be bought from a bricks and mortar store.

IIRC about as good as a Pukka pad - depending on the ink there was feathering.

Let's just say I have never bought one again.

I don't know about Cambridge pads but I can recommend Pukka pads which are available widely in the UK either spiral bound jotta pads or as refills. However, they are only 80 gsm but do take fountain pen ink very well with minimal feathering and print through.

Favourite pens in my collection (in alpha order): Caran d'Ache Ecridor Chevron F and Leman Black/Silver F; Parker 51 Aerometric M and F; Parker 61 Insignia M, Parker Duofold Senior F; Platinum #3776 Century M; Sailor 1911 Black/Gold 21 Kt M; Sheaffer Crest Palladium M/F; Sheaffer Prelude Silver/Palladium Snakeskin Pattern F; Waterman Carene Deluxe Silver F

What size of nib do you use?

I used broads with both Pukka and Cambridge and had some bad feathering with most inks. I rated them about as good as the poor Moleskine paper (which was much complained of) for feathering. Maybe with a fine nib they'd be okay.

Edit: just read your signature line - lots of fine nibs there!

Pukka Pads are relaible only if you use a fine or xf nib and the less saturated inks. Go beyond and anything could happen!
