And I agree that you should show off your ivory finish more often, that should have been a factory color.

OK but just a quick pic...

That's one very good looking ivory Carene you got there.

And what's more important: he did the lacquering himself. It is a unique piece.

Yeah, I've read how and it doesn't seem to be extremely difficult. Are there other users that have done similar lacquering?

Reading this thread on the Carene got me interested again. I have a number of these lovely pens already. THEN I made the mistake of looking online and I saw one in Frosty Brown with silver trim - just had to have it  It has just arrived and it is as lovely to use as it is to look at. The nib is medium and really smooth - its a pure delight to write with :cloud9:

Just curious, is the orange carene lighter than the rest? I had handled the orange one before and it seems lighter than what I expect of a lacquer over brass pen.

They should be the same. The gold cap Deluxe models might be a little heavier, but I didn't really notice.

No, all the lacquer over brass FP's are very similar in weight.

Hmm, this is weird. Originally, i assumed that the carene is too heavy for me due to the weight but I guess it would be just nice - another pen on my ever growing list.

If you don't find a stub there, Pen Seller From France and Pilotfish on eBay carry them and I know Pen Seller From France also sells on Amazon.

No affiliation with either, but I have bought about 6 or 8 pens [i lost count] from PSFF

Here, Here and on the Waterman web but now just termed Lagoon.

Wow, they've been out how long? 15 years? And we're still just discovering new colors?

That seems crazy for some reason. Frustrating how there's not a good, comprehensive, ongoing/cumulative online list with pictures something on WM's website.

How do I stop my Carene leaking? Seems to be to do with the breather hole on the back of the nib section

Hmm, it's leaking continually or just with use? It could be overfilled, but that doesn't sound normal... If it's under warranty, you may want to send it to Newell/Rubbermaid for servicing.

Post this in the main forum to get more answers. I'm prolly not the best person to ask.

Make sure your convertor or cartridge is well seated. Air is getting in somewhere and letting the ink out.

Also, be sure it's a leak and not "nib creep". Some inks that cause nib creep in other pens can walk all over a Carene section. For example, I adore Noodler's Zhivago in my MBs but I can't have it in my Carene or it crawls up the nib onto the section, into the cap, and onto my fingers.

Did one of us spot the fix?

Your air in the cartridge seemed spot on! Thought you're advice was sage and experienced :notworthy1:
