From "flex Freak" To "firm Fanatic"

Were it me, I'd write the seller, tell them what I'm thinking... get rejected... then write them again after Christmas when the auction is inevitably still running...

Better yet, we can call him and low-ball him, so when you make a reasonable offer, he takes it...

This is an eBay question you might know the answer to, GClef. How come sometimes you see a "Buy It Now" price in one place on a particular item, but when you get to the item page, it's not there? I can't say where I keep seeing it, maybe when I do a search and get a list of items, but I am seeing it in one location and not on the actual page that is for just that item, if you know what I mean. I've taken an oath to buy no more pens from eBay, but I am curious, just in case...

I see you're making good use of your recent gift, ring or no ring.

Pterodactylus, I wish this were a lie, but, sadly, no! I managed to spring the nib of my very first real vintage flex pen, the 52 1/2. I still don't know how it happened. Coincidentally, it happened right after I soaked the nib and feed in the Goulet pen flush, but I can't see how this could be related.

I hope this sad sight doesn't cause you guys too much discomfort, and, yes, I still have a 52, though its nib is not as nice.

I'm so sorry that happened, that's awful. I doubt it was the pen flush though.

Ouch.

I've got to wonder if the nib metal just reaches the end of it's lifespan and fails spectacularly on it's final, farewell flex, regardless of what the user has or hasn't done while using it. R.I.P. sweet flex nib, your life was well lived!

I think ebay requires that the BIN price be at least 30% higher than the opening bid price. But, BIN goes away once the bid is at least 50% of the BIN price. So oftentimes the item is listed with a BIN (and shows up as such in results or the emailed search results), but the BIN option has been removed because bidding has opened.

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)
