There are a few $15 FPs worth having. I think i will order one because i like inexpensive and good products. I own a Rosetta Explorer that i ordered from Amazon also that i store next to my Namiki Falcon and Waterman, etc in my Good Franklin-Christoph case. If you are looking cor same, try a Rosetta Explorer and enjoy its smoothness.

Bought a .6mm Nemosine from xfountainpens.com about a year ago and it is not cut oblique. It writes very well and has stood up well too regular use.

But it's true! The cut is off-center, and under a magnifying glass, looking from the underside of the nib, it is apparent.

Funny! I've never heard of these pens till someone gave me one as a gift a couple of weeks ago. Just tonight I decided to look up some info online because I was surprised at how well built this pen was at this price point. That's how I found this review. I agree that these are surprisingly nice little pens. I have the dark blue Singularity. I'm not a big steel nib guy, but this one is not bad. I'd like to stick a gold one in for a test ride. I love the clip and cap band.

Oh, and thanks for the very good review.

I just received two of these from xFountainpens - one EF and one 0.8. I haven't tried them yet, as I have too many pens inked at the moment (mostly Pilot Elites).

The Nemosines came in simple white cardboard boxes; each had a half-dozen black ink cartridges tossed loosely into the boxes. Bad news! Whether due to the extreme cold or whatever, every one of the cartridges opened up in the boxes. The little plastic beads which seal the carts were rolling around loose, sounding like a baby's rattle. What a mess - there was black ink everywhere.

xFountainpens says that they come this way from the manufacturer. I say be careful when opening.

I have a number of Nemosine Singularities with different nib sizes. They are super nice writers. I have also mated a Noodlers #6 Flex nib to the Nemosine Singularity (perfect fit)with excellent results, a Flex pen for drawing and writing.attachicon.gifimage.jpgattachicon.gifimage.jpg

Interesting, I tried to do this and couldn't get the noodlers nib to sit flat on the singularity feed. Do you do any modifications?

I received a package from xfountainpens yesterday (Monday), a Nemosine Singularity F. It came with half a dozen loose blue/black Nemosine cartridges. The package spent the weekend in Springfield MA and was trucked to Connecticut on Sunday night. Ambient temperature has been hovering around 0 to 10 degrees. It's been a bizarre winter here. Everything was intact. So far, the pen works perfectly, with no imperfections or cracks and no leaking into the cap.

I purchased a Noodler's Konrad along with the Art Nibs set. Normally I keep the un-tipped flex nib in the Konrad. I tried this nib in the Singularity, and it didn't come close to fitting. It's way too fat, and sticks out nearly 1/2" past the feed.

(The loose nib is the EF it came with.)

The music nib from the Neponset fits nicely. Whether it gets enough ink is anyone's guess. I'll have to ink it and try it out.

The Neponset nib worked out well. I was concerned that there might be feed issues, but not so much. I "italicized" the nib for some better line variation. It needs a bit more smoothing, but that's no problem. The ink is Private Reserve Electric DC blue. Click the thumbnail below.

If anyone bought a Neponset and found it too big, this is a viable option. For me, it's a keeper.

Six month review... Nemosine Singularity from XFountainPens

Pen: (NIB) 10/10

Sales/Service: 10/10

After Sale Service: 12/10

Features: extra-fine wet line, consistent performance from an excellent LARGE nib. My first "demonstrator".

= = = = = = = = =

Last year, I joined a new office and my assorted fountain pens attracted some attention. It's a fun group in a high pressure organization and fountain pens provided some novelty and diversion.

Soon other fountain pens appeared from dusty drawers and chilhood pen cases... and within a week or two, I was invited to participate in a "group buy" from XFountainPens.

On a whim, I purchased a Demonstrator (clear) Nemosine Singularity with an extra-fine (EF) nib. I had read that the German EF nib was like a super EEF nib (whatever that might mean) so I was willing to bet $15 to find out. And, it had a threaded cap... my preference.

What a very pleasant surprise!! The pen seemed well constructed. The clip is robust and quite lovely. The engraving in the cap ring is clear and elegant.

Ah... the NIB...fantastic!!

The ink feed starts immediately from the very large nib. There is no skipping or scratching. The line is extraordinarily thin/fine but retains a pleasant wetness.

With slight pressure, I get a consistent very, very, very, fine line. With a bit of pressure, I get a slight flex that provides a slight amount of variation in the line.

I must say that when the pen arrived, there was some slight cracking on the lip of the clear cap. None of the other colored Nemosine pens showed any signs of this (and still don't, several months later). It was virtually invisible anyway so I let it go. For me... the pen is the nib, the nib is the pen. I appreciate aesthethics as much or more than the next guy but the nib is the deal breaker and this one is superb.

However, over time, the cracking in the cap lip led to chipping. To be fair, I have seen this in other pens (both inexpensive and costly) where the threads continue after the cap should stop and the body of the pen continues into the cap like a wedge. With sturdy plastic, or resin, or metal, or a sufficiently large cap hole, this is not an issue. However, once it starts, it progresses... and a few days ago a chip... and then another... appeared in the cap lip.

OK, this is a $15 pen. But I would value the pen much higher based on its performance so I treated the issue as I would with a more costly pen.

I contacted XFountainPens and explained what had happened and sent them a photo. After owning the pen for 7-8 months, it could have been wear and tear for all they knew but their service was impeccable. I received a response from Esther at XFountainPens within 24 hours kindly asking if I wanted a replacement in a different color or a new cap. I chose a new cap. I was very impressed with the care and attention they showed to a customer. Apparently the new cap is on the way.

Recommend the EF nib? YES

I just received a Singularity demonstrator, and I'm impressed for $15. I'm taking notes today at work, and it's "F" nib is smooth, and fed with a just-right flow. I noticed a little clear ball in the converter, presumably for some leak protection, and I'm surprised to find such a nice feature. The ergonomics are good for me, with balance and grip. I am getting some fine in spots inside the cap, seemingly from any vibration/shock in normal use (and often bumpy commute).

I'll need to see how long my "crack free" status lasts, but this seems a solid performer and a good deal.

Yeah - but on Pels the section is glued to the barrel, and they're piston fillers. On these isn't there a chance the section could come out with the cap?

Just had an opposite issue due to the section threads. I guess one of my kids cranked the cap on too tight. They like to play with it because of the stub nib. It was almost impossible to get the section off the barrel, it was so stuck on. Soaked it in hot water for a while and then was finally able to do it. Made me also notice that the barrel naturally sticks a bit against the section, maybe an o-ring would help there.

I'll chime in for my love of the Nemosine Singularity. Lord knows, I might have done so already, but I can't stop myself.

I got it with a 0.6 mm stub (more italic like than a real stub), and it was my first exploration into other types of nibs beyond XF, F, M, B. It is a very light pen so you can write a pretty long letter without any cramping or anything. The 0.6 mm nib wrote like a dream too.

I have a FC Masayama medium stub and that writes smoother for sure, but I love the Nemosine nib and have a soft spot for it. Also since it's size 6 I've swapped it on a Jinhao to give that some extra flair when I write. The thing is those Jinhao's that fit size 6 are all so heavy that I tend to want to go back to the Nemosine.

And I've swapped a Goulet 1.1 stub on the Nemosine - no flow problems. It came with 6 blue standard international cartridges. While those are nothing to write home about, but for $15, it comes with those and a converter. A lot of places give you 1 cartridge. Value-wise its tough to beat. For me, this is the starter pen to get someone. FWIW, I'm getting my wife a magenta one for a stocking stuffer, we'll see if I can convert her to the dark side.

Inked: Aurora Optima EF (Pelikan Tanzanite); Franklin Christoph Pocket 20 Needlepoint (Sailor Kiwa Guro); Sheaffers PFM I Reporter/Fine (Diamine Oxblood); Franklin Christoph 02 Medium Stub (Aurora Black); Platinum Plaisir Gunmetal EF (Platinum Brown); Platinum Preppy M (Platinum Blue-Black). Leaded: Palomino Blackwing 602; Lamy Scribble 0.7 (Pentel Ain Stein 2B); Uni Kuru Toga Roulette 0.5 (Uni Kuru Toga HB); Parker 51 Plum 0.9 (Pilot Neox HB)

A problem pen! Problem company!

I ordered a Nemosine an extra fine nib. Starting the flow has always been a problem. When it writes it is quite nice...when it writes. I have tried several inks which should work in such a pen with regard to drying, etc., but no avail.

Also, the edge around the cap where the threads are is cracking.

The real problem is with the company. http://www.nemosine.com/pages/about-us They do not answer their email queries.

Then I sent the pen to the address on their wibsite. Address was absolutely correct. It was returned by the USPS as undeliverable.

I contacted xfountain Pens as apparently they are closely related. I MAY be getting somewhere but don't know. After two months of "no service" customer service I'll have to try again, or maybe I'll just put it in my pen collection and some day throw it out.

I've had an acrylic Singularity (EF) as my office pen for a couple of months now. It writes well, always starts right up (even after sitting unused through the weekend, sometimes a three-day weekend), looks great and feels nice in the hand. I own two acrylic Singularities with EF nibs and one regular plastic model with the .6mm stub. Here are a couple of things I've learned:

- The EF nibs like user-friendly ink if they are to be trouble free. Pelikan 4001, Waterman, Skrip, or the included Slovenian cartridges from XFountainPens (may be the same as Skrip) work well. Heavily-pigmented inks tend to dry up and clog, but that's not too different from several other F/XF pens I have.

- Get the acrylic pens (now just Coral and Black Marble, since the Blue Marble is gone). These are real machined acrylic pens, not injection-molded plastic like all the other Singularities. I can't speak to years-long durability, but my Black Marble EF has been in heavy use at work, dropped a few times (w/cap on), capped and uncapped a few hundred times and hasn't cracked, chipped or leaked yet (although I think all the sections are the same, so the body material probably hasn't had anything to do with no leaking). I have no idea whether the manufacturing of the plastic version has improved, but for $5 more the acrylic pens seem like a great deal.
