An eye for insignificant details is a good sign you will do just fine in medical school...

As a sharp wit and powerful sarcasm is a sign that you already have.

My Burma Road Bown doesn't look anywhere near as dark as this. Mine is a Brown-Yellow.

Absolutely! Your light tent worked very well. I am considering getting the Pilot, maybe. I am not sure, yet. I am quite happy with my Safari pens at the moment. I use them as my knock-about, everyday pens. How is the Pilot for that sort of everyday writing? I presume you have the fine nib?

These are awesome samples! I particularly like the last, the P51 with a custom nib. I've been thinking about something like that for a while, but I am afraid that I might not know how to write with a stub/italic. Do you have any recommendations for a first-time stub? Thanks!

I just got it last night, so it hasn't had the trial by fire some of the other pens have had. However, it has made it through a couple meetings, etc., today and has survived.

Yes, it is the fine, but is is WAY finer than anything I've had before, likely even finer than my old Safari EF. It is also smaller than I was expecting. I DO NOT post my pens; this one I have to or it doesn't even fit in my hand! That said, it is a great little pen, and fits into modern shirt pockets much easier than larger pens...

YMMV,

@akustyk, two of my stubs are from Pendleton Brown including the Parker 51. He does great work. dcpritch is our local stub expert, however. Any recommendations for akustyk, David?

@Pensandinks, I snapped that photo just after I had written with the Burma Road Brown, so it was probably a little darker than normal. And, that paper is a bit more 'absorbent' than say a rhodia or clairefontaine notebook. I've had a hard time convincing the folks at the office that it's "brown". :)

@dcpritch, love the vintage black! great match with the pen.

Thanks! I'm sending him my first pen for custom conversion into a stub. Thanks for the recommendation. I really appreciate it. I will post a sample when I get the pen back.

Dick D

They really did something special with the Safari line. Some people dislike the grip section, but I happen to like it. I tried several other pens in this price range, and higher, but ended up selling them, and went back to the Safari. Soon, I will have my first Safari stub, thanks to an FPN member. Can't wait!

I don't post much on this thread but I really enjoy looking through everyone's pictures. It is like I have my own mini pen show. :)

I stubbed my Jinhao 159 over the weekend. I think I am going to take it a step further and go for a cursive italic.

What size of nib is that, B or BB? Thanks.

Seeing all these awesome samples written with stubs and italics, I took the plunge and bought my first ever: a red Lamy Safari.

Congrats, akustyk! It looks fantastic. I think a stub suits your handwriting really nicely.

Thanks for sharing.
