Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using, *show* Us!

Tell me about your varsity mod.... please.

Sure!

I just used a Scotch Brite pad to polish away the paint and leave a nice, grippy texture on the barrel. To refill it with new ink, I wrapped the nip in a paper towel and gently pulled the nib and feed unit free. It's friction fit. Many people use pliers, but I had no issues pulling it out with my fingers. Then just fill it like an eyedropper and pop the nib/feed unit back into place.

The way the feed works on a Varsity is just something special. It's a great little mod.

Woo Hoo.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

What is a photobucket account? How does one go about getting one?

A photobucket account is one of a variety of websites that allows you to upload photos to it. From there you can edit photos, let others view your photo library if you so choose, download photos from wherever you may be, copy a link to the file and paste it into a post here in order to have photos appear in your posts, etc....very handy and it's free.

To get an account, head over to photobucket.com and sign up.....that's it!

Hope this helps,

Mark

I've lurked in this thread and admired the beautiful pictures for such a long time; here is my humble contribution:

Today's Inks + Pens by drv1913, on Flickr

These are the pens and inks that I carry and use daily, with the exception of the Levenger True Writer. I don't really like that one, but it has a broad nib, and I use it when I'm writing short notes, so I brought it along today. I have another True Writer with a medium nib, which I seldom use at all. As you can tell, I am very partial to Sheaffer NoNonsenses and Connaisseurs (aka Levenger Seas).

Well, they all look good! I'm surprised you aren't a fan of the True Writer, I've never tried one but here good things about them.

The line made with medium TW nib is too anemic-looking to me and feels scratchy to write with. The broad nib is much better to write with, but produces a broader stroke than I normally like for my everyday writing. Also, the TW cap does not stay on when posted (annoying) and I don't like piston fill converters. For all of those little reasons, these two stay in the drawer even though I think they are pretty to look at. I regret having my initials etched on them; I would consider giving them away otherwise.

I have purchased this vintage Sheafer at Singapore two days back. There is a stamping on the barrel showing 444, but all photos of 444 in google show inlaid nib type. I am not sure if this Sheafer is incorrectly marked, the seller told me this new old stock, from early seventies. Any advise ?

Soumitraji, I have this very pen which my Dad got as a gift sometime in the 60s or 70s , he''s not sure when exactly. I had posted a picture of it and got the reply that it is a stylist with triumph nib. Mine's made in Australia. I'll try and share my thread with you as soon as I figure out how.

Yes. So long as she doesn't discover the extra ink at work we will be fine.

She has been enrolled as an apprentice and adds interesting pens to my ebay watch list... this could be risky!
