Kinda out of topic here, but Amber, I REALLY like your avatar!!!

clever what you did there... BRILLIANT!! :)

Oh, that's an "original" from Napalm. I have become a real fan of the Pac Man Ghost, Inky. The avatars are gifts from FPN members. I change it every few days. I also did a PIF and sent stationary to members who sent me avatars. The contributions have been amazing.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Compliments to napalm !!! Indeed a clever idea!

Yes, I have noticed how Inky seems to have become your trademark :P

I'll keep checking your profile for other pacman creations, then.

Tim,

French pens are certainly stylish, very nice looking Gold Starry. How long is the pen?

Troy

thanks! It's not a big pen; most French pens of the era that I've seen aren't -- it's about 12.7 cm, a touch over 5", capped. Yes, I love the subtle glamour; it's a beauty.

Since we're off topic anyway -- why? Just because of the name or were you a PacMan junky back in the day?

Since you asked, I have written the entire story. Most of the links are buried in this thread. The images are uploading now.

This was my first Inky...though not THE first Inky.

Still flexing BSIAR-NF :cloud9:

Can't put it down :)

Totally love the pen, the ink, the penmanship, and especially that delightful bird doodle! Looks like a lower-case "s" that grew into something amazing!

Well, I'm not as creative, or wordy, but here's what I've been using today.

Two great pen makers. I have a nice 1970s-80s Sheaffer Targa and a 1937-1941 "Crest" (lever fill, un-hooded nib) and I enjoy them both greatly. I also have an Esterbrook J with a 9048 nib, and the sharpness of the line with a bit of flex is totally amazing.

Tringle --

Your French pens are beauties! My Europeans will appear anon as they get inked...and some need to be restored first. All of my pens are the result of resto work at my bench. I haven't yet found a Meteore I've wanted to keep. What is the story behind the Aristokrat?

Maybe we can get betweenthelens to show us her Bayards...

Gweimer -- Love your Statesman, love my Statesman...moved out most of my Sheaffers over time, down to 5-6, but one of those is black Statesman.

I just got, and repaired the Statesman. I really like it, so far. I also have two gray Admirals. I'll probably be selling of the them, and the Statesman, but I think I will end up with a keeper along the way.

Love the '53 Merc. I had a '54 Monterey in Lakeland Blue for a couple years.

Good call on the Merc! Very few recognize it as a Merc at all! It's a Canadian plain Jane. Never mine, don't even know/remember where the pic came from, but it's been my avatar on every board I do, for years.

Part of the fun with Sheaffers -- they're all sort of alike but also very different, and you can just keep 'em moving in and out until you fall in love. My Canadian Carmine Balance came in a junk box, you couldn't even tell it was carmine, and staked a permanent claim. The Statesman came as the junior partner in a trade, and the senior partner is looong gone.

I just got and started to use this large celluloid fountain pen, handcrafted by KATOSEISAKUSHO in Osaka, Japan.

The workshop was closed after Mr. Kato died, who had worked also for Visconti in the 1980s'.

This is a huge pen, slightly bigger then Pelikan M800.

The Aristokrat is a German made piston filler, from the 1930's, its a monster, the nib is big, the barrel and cap are both long. The capped pen is the same size as a Parker Duofold Senior. Other than I believe the pen was manufactured in Furth, Germany, I know nothing more.
