[Montblanc 145 (Classique) and Montblanc Meisterstück 90 Years Permanent Grey]

Lovely pen, handwriting and ink

Is that a BB nib or is it something more unusual...?

I've been lucky enough to get a way for a few days and am only just catching up on a few threads - I've saved this one until last.

Sooo many beautiful pens, inks writing and artwork to be inspired by. Wow.

I'll no doubt recall these precious moments to recharge my mind in times of need later.

Coop,

one last thing .. on the back side of the nib (the plastic feed part) .. do you see any residue of ink there? It is just a little and I am wondering if that is from my other issue .. or if that is just a little smear from when the NIB pushes out of the "door" when extended.

There's no noteworthy amount of ink there.

... Never underestimate the power of human stupidity ...

Thanks, I don't have much there either. it was the front of the nub and the converter shaft mostly. I mean, I see a little on the back of the nib .. but not much.

Thanks again.

Nice!

Can you do me a favor .. after using the pen for a while, can you open it and look at the NIB / Feed assembly. I am attaching a picture of mine and I want to know if yours looks like mine. I have a feeling I have a defective one. (I have checked seals and stuff .. I have flushed it and tried again .. the ink is Iroshizuku Kon-Peki) .. no matter what I do, it just seems to bleed ink. I filled it with a syringe so it isn't residual ink from sticking the NIB in the ink.

I personnaly have two vanishing point Capless Pilot and both have the same problem. Using the converter or the Pilot cartridge doesn't change anything ....

Hmmmm.. That is a real bummer....My VP has never leaked...and it is one of my most used pens... I must have got lucky.... the nib on mine is less than great though... Let us know if they fix them for you...

Good to know I am not the only one that has seen this problem. I will say that (SO FAR) I haven't seen the leakage with the Noodler's 54th Massachusetts loaded. It might be the ink (though 3 other brands leaked) or it might be that I just got "lucky" when putting it back together.

If need be, I can deal with it .. but for the price and reputation, it seems like that shouldn't happen.

As far as the NIB .. I absolutely LOVE it. I got the EF (so it's more like an ExExF) and it is SMOOTH. Even with the SUPER fine nib and me being a lefty (we push as opposed to pull the pen when writing) .. it writes VERY smooth. I love the line size of this EF NIB as I write small AND being a lefty, the smaller line means less ink which in turn means a faster drying time. The downside to this is you give up the shading of inks.

I will let you know what I hear back.

That's dang funny.

I love this thread. I look at it all the time. dcpritch, that MB is absolutely STUNNING.

Sheaffer Triumph nib lovers, be prepared to drool with envy. :P

This is a factory OB 14K triumph nib.

This is a super yummy PdAg nib in factory Broad. The line is so wet and thick, I love it!

Here's a factory stub nib that I had transp[lanted onto a gorgeous grey striated, full size plunger filler. The barrel is even a demo (yellow, not ambered) through the stripes!

Boy you got that right. Wowza! I have never seen nibs like that on those Sheaffer models, other than the ones you have.

Did you get the only ones ever made? Are you hoarding? Do you have a problem that can only be helped by "donation therapy"?

Define "problem". :P And yes, I'm hoarding them.

I hunt them down. I spend a lot of time and money doing it. sometimes you get a great deal - that OB posted above, I got for $110CAD. Other ones I end up paying WAY too much for, like that straited stub, which I bought two separate pens to make, both pretty overpriced (the stub came on a black autograph pen that a pen dealer in Toronto charge me almost $300 for!!! Looking back, I probably shouldn't have bought it. The striated body cost over $200. Then the repair and putting them together and shipping was $50. Overall, that pen cost me way too much money. I still hope to sell the autograph body with a F nib for $150, and get back at least *some* of the cost!)

By far my favorite FP. How many ways can I write "It's Friday" with the Spencerian flex. Anyone up for mixing graffiti style elements with copperplate?
