Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using, *show* Us!

David: That's a rather unusual lever on the Waterman 5116 - how does it work?

It is a two stage lever that actually is a modified bulb filler. A friend in California who happens to be a great pen repairman made it work. Here is Richard Binder's blog entry about a similar pen: http://blog.richardspens.com/PenBlog/Sweepings_from_the_Studio/Entries/2010/2/23_The_impossible_takes_a_little_longer.html

The 5116 is the second generation of the original Ink-Vue, changed slightly from the original. The pen I showed was almost certainly made in 1939 and I don't think any 5116's were made after that. The Postal Pen is a much simpler and user friendly design for a bulb filler!

Interesting - just been looking on Cult pens and that 'style' of VP (or capless) is only available with a medium nib ??

Wow! That's green! :D

Congrats!

I want a black VP nib...and a VP that goes with the black VP nib....

wow - i have been eyeing these up - that looks gorgeous !

Thank you both .. and yes, it IS green. The picture doesn't do it full justice. It is not obnoxious .. but very pretty.

I am having to watch it because it was bleeding ink a little while ago. Nothing on me, but the inside of the barrel was pretty blue. I am thinking that the converter shaft just got twisted. I cleaned it out .. washed it up .. made sure the converter was all the way back (open .. drawn). So far it is fine. I will do a pen flush and let it dry out tonight and keep an eye on it.

(I am hoping it was just an oops and not a defect ... though i'm sure the lovely folks at Goulet will fix me up if it IS the pen).

You all have such beautiful handwriting! Carretera's Plato quotation is so lovely - the shading in that in makes me want to order one immediately!

UK-based pen fan. I love beautiful ink bottles, sealing wax, scented inks, and sending mail art. Also, thanks to a wonderful custom-ground nib by forum member Bardiir, I'm currently attempting calligraphy after years of not being able to do so due to having an odd pen-grip :D

All these snails are making me smile like a big ol goof!

I decided to treat myself a little today and bring my favourite pens to work instead of using my workhorse Safaris and Metropolitans. Here's my Noodler's Ebonite Konrad and Platinum 3776 Century Nice, making for a very pretty pair, I think.

I biked home early today to work in the backyard and was happy to see that my Pelikan M205 from Pen Chalet came in. Here it is filled with R&K Alt-Goldgrün, a very snailly colour if I do say so myself.

Dummit!! Trying to upload my image (not that my hand writing is that great) but can't figure out how to do it. Help (she asked pathetically).

Upload the picture to a site such as Tinypic and copy its URL code. Then go to the bottom of this page, and click the empty space available for responses. Click on the green square which is in the second row, in between the smiley face and the "Text Colour" icon, and paste the URL code.
