And some non fountain pens.

Um ... wow! A sailor is the pen I'm holding out as a long term reward for myself. And you have five inked up simultaneously?! Not to mention those other fantastic pens. Really beautiful.

And I always assumed I would go with black, but that purple one looks pretty cool. Do you have a favorite of the bunch?

Hi Jadehawk,

This is a sample with my BIC. I prefer with semi flex nib... and you? :)

photo+%25288%2529.JPG

Wow... This looks fantastic even on regular BIC pen.. Yes it looks 200% better with a flex nib but to me it looks 100% amazing on regular pen..

which only assures that copperplate will be the font (style) to attempt to learn..

I have watched a lot of YouTube videos and copperplate takes some time to write it needs patience..

When you are writing regular notes that need to be written fast do you write cursive ( I recall you mention Spencerian style ) or do you write printed?.

Thank you for the personal writing sample I love the way jadehawk looks with your penmanship.. Even the wife is telling me why I can't write like that..... if only she knew the time and pain you have all invested in perfecting your penmanship...

Thanks. I have waited a long time to buy the Sailor Pro Gear and it is really nice. It was quite dry when I bought it but it was easy to adjust the nib. This is my favourite. The reason I have bought so man Sailors is that I like really fine nibs . The F and EF nibs are great. I´m not so happy with the Sailor M nibs and I do not use them much. One has always been scratchy and the other one is very dry, and I have not been able to make them much better.

The purple one is called blueberry.

No, you don't need to turn the feed. It's not like a Pelikan that needs rotation. You put the duct tape on the tip of the feed, right where the nib you removed used to sit, clamp your index finger and thumb on the top and bottom of the feed (on top of the duct tape, of course), and then just pull directly out. I know it can be tight, but it really does come out. If it's *too* tight, try running the section under warm water for a few minutes and then try again.

Thanks to Wastelanded who informed me the feed was removable and that duct tape helps the process! :)

Mmmm… I keep trying but I can't get it to budge!! I don't have any duct tape though...

I picked up my first flex pen earlier today (Noodler's Nib Creaper) and Diamine Marine. I'm quite happy with the combination! I rather like my inconsistent, sort of messy writing, since I feel it has a lot of character, but I may learn some fancier penmanship or calligraphy so I can take better advantage of this nib. post-114911-0-46604600-1405984077_thumb.jpg

Old pen new nib. The pen has a Kugel Fine steel nib, but I was not skilled enough to use this nib. Sooooo I swapped it for a Rover fine semi flex nib.

Some steel nib are fantastic, the one on this celluloid made Osmia 66 is good example.

I agree I have a Matador and a Mercedes with steel nibs and I love them. The Greif kugel fine is troublesome to me. Can flexible nibs be adjusted to be more stiff?

I like really fine nibs too. That's one of the reasons I'm interested in a Sailor. Adjusting the nib on an expensive pen would worry me though. I'm not experienced enough to be comfortable with that.

That blueberry does look awesome though.

Many people have tried to modify a hard nib into a flexible one, that´s because lot of people love flexible nibs. But I´ve never heard the opposite.

Haha, thanks for the extra pic. Now I'm experiencing envy. And I just showed the picture to a friend who looked at me like, "What? What are you showing me? Is that a pen? I don't get it." Worst part was I knew I would get that reaction, but had to show it anyway.

I get those reactions.....usually a response of see you tonight on World of Warcraft, or something close to that genre. But I don't let that bother me..I laugh because I know pens, ink, pencils, etc make me happy.

Hi Jadehawk,

Thanks for comments. :)

You can tell your wife that I also suffer to write in cursive. Writing with flex nib requires planning and many attempts to leave something minimally decent. At least for me.

In my daily I write printed and when I have time in italic cursive.

Almost done. I'm going to tinker with it for a couple days.

Trading this for a rare golf club!

...then promptly selling that golf club and buying a Nakaya Naka-ai... if all goes well.
