Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using, *show* Us!

Bruce, I have this big drawer of old pens and every so often I reach in and pull one out, repair it, mess with the nib, write with it, etc. Not too very different from this guy I know in Ocala, I think.

I thought this was pretty funny!

OK, I know others have said so, but I can't go without making a comment about how ridiculously gorgeous this writing is. Beautiful lettering, spacing, angle, the whole nine yards. Thanks for showing us a little of your mojo!

Any arrivals?

I just tried Tomoe River tonight.

...OMG! It is shockingly awesome ... I NEED to own a Tome River book now!

I tried it a couple or three years ago and ever since Tomoe River is basically the only paper I use for writing letters. Best. Paper. Ever.

OK, I was out in the boonies for several days with virtually no cell service and NO internet, and its taken quite a while to catch up on this thread. You people are prolific!

Here is what I inked today:

National Security pens were made in England for the British Carbon Papers company. It is likely this model was made in the 1930s by Lang, which also made pens for Eversharp under the name Kingswood. The Lang connection is the best reason I can come up with as to why a correct vintage Eversharp nib with a British stamp would be found in this pen. Regardless, the nib is is fun and the celluloid is mesmerizing.

Thanks! I think it is 1930s based on research and styling - clip style, peaked hard rubber ends, clip, hard rubber section, etc.

Oh my, what ink is that? Sorry about your M200. I am trying to clean my M200 demonstrator so if you find a way please share.

It's a test ink - that I won't be recommending. That was the staining after 3 days.

Here's a thread about the cleaning.

Have you tried a weak solution (1:10 ammonia to water) of clear ammonia? I think we all feel your pain.

Felt fitting since I've not shown what is really in it much!

I compared the line this Lamy 2000 nib produces to pictures I found online posted by several different nib-master-meisters that grind xxxxf, needle points and Sabi-togi type grinds... it's at least an xxxxf when writing with light pressure. Here's an example of close to the thinnest line it can produce.

I've not posted here for a long time. I do come and have a peek every once in a while though as I really enjoy seeing everyone's pens and handwriting. I love that Apache Sunset colour, I'll have to get some!

My new pen is a Waterman 52 ½v red ripple - well, I've had it a little while now but never got around to showing it!

Can someone tell me if there's an easier way to add an image to my message other than having to upload it somewhere else, then paste the link in the "Image Properties" box?

Thank you!

Callique

I think I have read every review of all most every black fountain pen ink I can find.

Here's my list of requirements in order of importance:

1. No nib creep! Quink and Eels creep. Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo doesn't.

2. Black black black. Because the line is so fine I understand getting a dark black line that fine may be hard, but hopefully it's as dark as can be and not grey.

3. I'd like for it to clean off easily from the inside of the Lamy 2000 ink window and my clothes if a drop hits my pants when refilling or something.

I'm avoiding inks that have been described as really wet like Aurora and Noodler's (all) because I think they may promote nib creep.

The leading candidates for my order are:

Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black

Namiki Black - though it may be too light/grey

Pelikan Edelstein Black Onyx.

thoughts?

I've used Aurora Black for quite a while in a great many pens and don't recall an issue with nib creep. However, I don't really mind seeing ink on a nib - unless its completely covered all the time - so I can't say for sure that Aurora does or doesn't do that.

Yeah, nib creep is sometimes fine with me, but the Lamy 2000 nib is so small and so shiny that I want to see all of its tiny glory. A little creeper on a Pelikan nib though looks good.
