Wouldn't it be great if Nakaya used TWSBI piston fillers instead of Platinum cartridge converters?

The Fabriano blank books I buy are around $3-4 and are 5.5"x8.5". The bristol comes in big pads, but I cut those down to 5.5"x8.5". There's lots of fun in trying new papers and I haven't begun to try most, but so far the two above offer great line variation for drawing. Smoother stuff like Luechtturm1917, Rhodia, Apica, TomoeRiver etc might be better for writing as they are smoother.

That is more or less the size I would like.., and that it takes fountain pen ink. Price is reasonable for non-publishable "art" as mine IS ! ...LOL Thanks ! Seems like the way to go ! Sketching is a past time i enjoy. I remember I lined up my University notebooks with small faces in my chemistry and calculus class. I wish I had them now.

BTW; I ordered 4 of the type that says staple bound to try out the paper and get started with FP sketching. It specifies you can write with FP so that is a reassuring.

It's really cool to see a video of your FP getting the finishing treatment. I wish there were more videos.

Mu experience is limited compared to most on here, so there are probably many suggestions with more insight like what Tas posted above. I mostly draw, sketch or write fancy phrases and what I find in this world is a really good super thin line is the hardest thing to come by. Some papers feather the line on a microscopic level making the line just a hair thicker. The Fabriano and bristol board paper seem to be able to hold the thinnest lines I can make, but again they do produce a little feedback. That famous youtube video of the guy with the custom Namiki Falcon is on Bristol Board. The sound is half the fun!

Finalist, I loved the price on the Fabrianos- to start, so 4 of them.

Tas, I found a website with the Stillman and Birn notebooks, but was not so easy to navigate or checkout the notebooks. I have to look at it when I have time to look in detail so I don't order something I don't want in th rush of the moment.

Also, I have used Strathmore before and have my own notebooks done at Kinko's. I still have some unused ones. But I am too lazy now for this. Need them ready made.

I also have some removable leather covers I could like to make notebooks for.. That is a later project.

00Photo, what a beautiful lineup of pens - the brightness of color on your pens matches the gorgeous colors on your drawing.

Nashten, good to see you posting here. Your writing is improved! Nice, pens, too!

PaulMcManus - I've always been a huge fan of urushi collaboration done by Brian Gray of Edison. Great pen!!!

Thier., Love that HS! :D

I kind of got stuck on Montblanc Leonardo Red Chalk ink - it has a very nice hue to it, and great writing characteristics. So I tried it in a pen with a really big nib and find I like it even better than before. The Parker 75 Premier was made in France as a big brother to the Parker 75. It has some nifty styling touches like beveled rings on the ends and flat onyx jewels, and its a tad bigger than the regular 75. In my view the cisele pattern is an all-time classic.

Lamy 2000 with the FFT grind --- that's Finalist Fine Tip grind lol... I always wanted to name a grind.

It's an xxf in the normal position, an xxxF when held a little more vertical, and an ef when flipped upside down. The FFT is born.

These are my Strathmore notebooks made at Kinko's. They have a see through plastic cover and a hard carton on the back, Very inexpensive to make (in 2008 anyway).
